Any update on Micah??
Hoping for good news!
Micah's appointment was this morning at 9:00 a.m. I had to leave him there until about 1:00 p.m. so they could get a urine sample from him.
Dr. Beth had the vet techs take a fecal sample and test it for parasites and bacteria. She said there were no parasites, but there was a lot of bacteria...from inflamed bowels, most likely. He had to have subcutaneous fluids because he was dehydrated from going so much.
She wants to make a clear diagnoses before we start treatment for IBD (steriods). She recommened two weeks on Tylan Plus Powder capsules (Tylosin) twice a day (50 mg). After that, we'll see how he is doing. The next step would be endoscopy or laprascopic (spelling?) surgery to take biopsys.
Of course, David saw $$ signs when I told him. I'm not sure how much it would cost, but he's well worth it. This vet is much more expensive, but they specialize (cats only) and I feel he's in good hands. She even remembered I call him Mishka (Mee-sh-ka) and was calling him that when she said goodbye to him. She's a sweet vet.
When we went to go look at the kittens at the home of the person who is giving me the trapping cages for Gracie, I told her about Micah. Her daughter is a sergeon tech at a vets office and had learned about an herb the vet used to cure chronic diareah in cats....its called Wachters Sea Klenz. I'm suposed to call Dr. Beth and see if its OK to try that. Anything to make him better is well worth a try.
So, prayers please that we can aleviate these symptoms...poor little guy. I was just telling Wolflady that I'm so sad that Micah doesn't relax unless its at night and I'm there to lay on. (rare....he's timid and the others hog me) He's always in a loaf position.... Dr. Beth said it wasn't because he wasn't comfortable emotionally, but physically.![]()
That breaks my heart.
What is inspirational is his spirit. He craves love, regardless of how he's feeling. We're so lucky to have such a sweet baby to share our lives with.![]()

HUGS to you and Micah. Have you tried some rescue remedy in his water? Or even a small amount of liquid catnip. That can help to relax a little more and make life a little less uncomfy.
I wish the breeder could be sued for medical expenses. Micah must have had this all along and from the sounds of it was not treated.
Prayers your way.

Kelly, I'm so sorry to hear that Micah is still having problems.Prayers and positive thoughts are on the way. I sure hope that the vet can find a treatment that will help him. Please take care. {{{HUGS}}}
Poor MicahSending prayers that successful treatment to what ails him is found very soon.
Hugs

I was a chicken.....Micah is by far the worst cat in the world to pill. Luckily, the pills were homemade at the vets and are really a powder. They thought it would be easier to pill him, than to hide it in his food....hello? He ate wet food laced with Flagel and Imodium AD!!!
So, that's what I did. He enhales it!!! Good boy...this makes me actually glad he's my little food whore.![]()

Our cats have their pills in little slices of cabanossi (sp) sausage.
Good luck with Micah, and give him big hugs from all of us.

Poor little Micah. I hope he feels better real soon. Prayers on the way.
