That's true, Kay. If you want the benefits of raw shells, you could just throw some in the food processor with your veggies & fruits.

Gonzo & Fozzie got Farmore Buffalo, veggies, yogurt, and some rice. They both got to chew on a knuckle bone for a little while too

Chester had a fish (tilapia) for breakfast, and 2 chicken legs and some veggies for dinner.

This was their dinner last night:

    Jack Mackerel
    Sweet Potatoes
    Carrots
    Cottage Cheese
    Eggs w/ shells

Raustyk didn't want hers for some reason. Not sure if she was self regulating or if she didn't like the sweet potatoes. She's had everything before except the sweet potatoes but then again she's usually a chow hound so who knows. Guess only time will tell.
So this is who took over her meal:

Tiki, he loved it (of course, he likes everything, I should of called him Mikey)

Soar high & free my sweet fur angels. I love you Nanook & Raustyk... forever & ever.

I have put the egg in the processor before, I might just do that for Ki & Simba.

Nala LOVES them and has no problem digesting them. She thinks they're potato chips.

I just made my three some more "frosty paws." There's about 25 of them in my freezer. I'm going to give them as their daily veggie/fruits/yogurt - they love 'em especially since it's so hot outside. This batch will last me about a week.
The ones I just made had:

    apple
    celery
    carrot
    oats
    a tad bit of milk
and a half spoonful of peanut butter

Last night for dinner they each had a chicken quarter, some raw goop (mix of chicken, turkey (all with bones), beef, eggs & shells, I make up large batches for the ferrets) and a little bit of noodles (cleaned out my fridge).

This morning they had half of a pigs leg each.

    Tonight will be chicken again.

Went to the store today and saw VEAL neckbones for 2.59/lb! Veal has always been 14.99/lb where I've seen it. I suppose it's because it was neckbones, and it was still more than I like to pay, but hey, variety is the spice of life! So they had those a minute ago and also had a Dogster (like Frosty Paws but with less additives) and they loved the Dogster! We bought some yogurt and stuff so we could make our own Frosty Paws. I think it's a good treat for the hot summer!

Not sure what they're going to have for dinner yet.

*misses feeding Raw* I'm going to finish up Roxy's kibble and tomorrow I'll see if I can get her to eat the meat. It's really outdated though.. Is that okay?

As long as it has been frozen outdated meat is ok to feed to dogs, provided it is not extremely spoiled & the like.

    Outdated as in...??

    What kind of meat?
    What's the date on it?
    Where has it been stored?

As long as it's been frozen and it's eaten within a few days after being thawed (or eaten frozen.)

Sarah, my three are LOVING their home-made frosty paws!
Grrr.. I need to find a nice meat market.

    Yes it's okay.

Don't switch her back to kibble if she doesn't eat. If you do this will never work and you'll be creating a picky dog. If she doesn't want it, put it back in the fridge for later. Do this for three-four days. If after four days she isn't eating, try another meat, she may just not like chicken. But you can't play the game where if she isn't eating, you feed kibble. Kibble is addictive to dogs - it is full of "yummy" carbs and is sprayed with fat or something to make it smell good. To dogs, kibble is sometimes more appetizing than raw.

Also, don't keep switching from raw to kibble back and back to raw. Find what you can stick with. You're really going to upset their tummies one day. By the way, it's okay to feed mostly chicken while money is tight. Feed whatever you can get for the least amount of money. Or feed kibble, but don't keep switching.

Like it was best sell by June 17 (we bought it a day before that)
It's chicken quarter, and it's been in the freezer.. but I had to thaw it so I could wrap it (but it wasnt completely unthawed)

What are you putting in them besides yogurt? We were thinking banana, peanut butter, canned pumpkin ... stuff like that.

Okay. I just hope she eats it. The reason I didn't put it back was because she got dirt all over it..
