Roxy had whatever was left of the whole chicken, and Lily had 1/2 of a thigh.

I'm getting many mixed feelings on the shark meat (posting on several other sites)
A few websites have said yes, and the dogs can even chew on fins as treats.
A few message boards, the majority said there are too many mercury & toxins and carries fluke worms.

I've yet to hear from the lady that I've been asking the most questions to. She seems incredibly educated on the RAW feeding subject and I trust and understand most of her statements on it.

I'm going to google it a bit more and ask a few more people then see wether or not I want to feed shark.

Could you imagine if I tossed a big shark in the middle of the yard for my three to eat!? They'd probably look at me like I'm crazy.

Well I finally did it. With the help of Sarah and many other's my dog's ate there first Raw meal today!

They each got a chicken leg Quarter.

Nova LOVED it but Konnor wasn't to sure how to eat it. It took Nova so long to figure out she was just supposed to chew it. She tried to pull the skin off but it didn't work, so finally she put the whole thing in her mouth and decided she should just bite into it. Konnor wasn't so lucky. He is a licker and just sat there and licked the quarter for about a half hour. Finally I cut it into three pieces. He only ate about one of the three then he gave up. I don't know if he doesn't like chicken or just wasn't sure if it was really food. Tonight he is still acting like he wants his kibble so I know he is still hungry. We will try again tomorrow though and see if he does any better.

Ok, it happened sooner than I thought it would. The dogs are back on an all raw diet.

Raustyk & Nanook do have some kibble left, not sure if I am gonna keep it & freeze it for when I have to have someone else watch them or just toss it. But kaige & Indy have no kibble left and they LOVE being "forced" to eat raw for every meal. lol

I went to the grocery store last night to pick up some chicken for the dogs. Thought it was on sale for 58cents/lb, went to check out & it was only 30somethingcents/lb. So of course I went back & got more. Came home with 50lbs of chicken & some organs all for less than $20. Thats almost enough for 2 weeks. Compared to feeding kibble, feeding raw for the next 2 weeks is $15 cheaper than feeding PREMIUM kibble.
Soar high & free my sweet fur angels. I love you Nanook & Raustyk... forever & ever.

Whoaaa... I forgot to thaw their meat last night so they'll be having kibble . But wow, haha, that's cheap, and if *I* bought that much meat it would last me like a month . Is it too early to start on organs and something besides chicken yet? They seem pretty well adjusted to it, but I think they'd like some variety.

Briana - you could always feed it frozen. Or you could put it in a ziplock baggie and run it under hot water for a few minutes to semi-thaw it (never microwave - that will cook it). Or you could put it in a baggie in cold water for a few hours and completely thaw it. Or you could skip a meal until it thaws in the fridge

If their stools are fine and they are acting normal and eating normally (I mean not turning their noses up) then you can switch to another meat. If Lily is still having any reserves about eating then don't give her something else because it would be as if she's winning the "I don't wanna eat chicken" battle. I would add organs last, after you've added all of your meat sources, just because they're not that important right now.

My crew had some huge 2 lb turkey legs today. For dinner Buck is getting some pork and Mandy and Nova will be getting their daily chicken feet.

Lily HATES her food frozen . She's a picky butt, and I usually have to slightly defrost it in the microwave for her to eat it.. Is that still cooking it? Roxy's absolutely loving every single bit of this, so I'm not afraid to add more for her. What meat do you recommend adding next?

    Today they had:

    Chicken
    Trout
Egg (Nala ate the shell, other 2 didn't want it still.)
    Yogurt
and 2 tsps each of the lintone stuff I got for free, for the heck of it.

Visa got some lamb, Mountain Dog food chicken & veggie formula, an egg, and some kelp. I also gave her some Wormex, as I'm in the process of deworming her before she has her babies.
    I've been BOO'd!

Ewww... I had to split the tripe into portions today. I forgot how bad fresh tripe smelled. The ground stuff is SOOOO much better! And that was only 2.5 pounds! I still have 15 pounds of tripe coming in! YUCK!

Anywho, the pups had a bit of tripe and split a chicken quarter. For dinner they're gonna have llama, kelp, sardines and an egg.

    For dinner they had:
    chicken quarter
    slice of venison
    egg & shells

For breakfast this morning they had a small chicken quarter.

I think I am going to start to feed them once a day instead of twice. I have always fed twice a day even when I was feeding all raw before. But after researching how often people feed their dogs I see a LOT of raw feeders only feed once a day.
It would make my life a LOT easier. Morning feedings are just so hurried in my house, especially now that I am back feeding just raw and have another dog in my household. Half the time the dogs don't eat much breakfast and if they do they usually aren't too enthused about it.

Gonzo & Fozzie split a whole turkey breast with the bone. Each got a whole egg, but Fozzie ate both of the shells.

Fozzie will get 2 meals of CN later, as usual.

I feed Gonzo one big meal in the morning, and usually just his supps at night with some dairy or organ/muscle meat or veggies/fruit.

My dogs only get one meal, Sue.
Roxy had a chicken quarter, and Lily had kibble because I was sort of sick today and didn't feel like dividing hers. But I have enough meat for 8 days for Lily, and 5 for Roxy. I realized a huge bag of chicken quarters was only $0.79 a pound, so I plan on going back and buying that soon.
