Terminating kitty pregnancy poll?

In light of Samanthapuppy's thread, I was wondering that, if in the same situation as her friends Bill and Martha: Would you have had the vet terminate the kitties pregnancy or vice versa.

Well to be perfectly honest I hate the thought of terminating a cats pregnancy like that, but i was faced with that situation when i was spaying the neighbours three cats, I chose not to ask, as i did not want to know, but i don't think any of them were in fact pregnant, i had already rescued ten kittens off them, there was no room anywhere for anymore,but i guess my answer would have to be yes in these type of circumstances,even though it would be very hard for me to have to confront this situation, I would say desperate situations do call for desperate measures sometimes.

I would termanate the pregnacy . Ecspeally in the case sighted the kitty was already open why end up opening again . Kitty will now mostly need a c section and be spay them . to hard on kitty.

I had this happen to me once, I took in a stray that the owners had decided to stop feeding because she wouldn't stop having kittens. I contacted a local shelter and they were nice enough to give me a voucher to have her spayed for free at the local shelter. It turns out she was pregnate and they terminated the pregnancy. At first I was a little upset that they didn't tell me about it, but I know it was the right thing. I know that I wouldn't have been able to afford to fix all the kittens and find them homes and I didn't feel that it would be right to make the shelter handle this since they already have so many other unwanted animals to care for. I also think this was the best thing to do for her, she had already had two litters of kittens and I know that it can be so hard on them and she didn't need to go through that again. I've seen her a few times since I adopted her out and I see how happy she is now and I still feel like it was the best choice for her.

Yes, this happened to my sister once. There was a very small tortie hanging around her house once. Julia is very good at taming ferals and strays and with the help of one of her cats (yep, Mudpie helped!), she tamed the little girl.

Because of the time of year and everything, she suspected that the little kitty (her name is now Muffin) might be pregnant but if she was, it wouldn't have been that far along. Julia decided to have the kitty spayed anyway as the kitty was so small, having a litter may have endangered her health. Muffin was less than a year old and very tiny for a cat.

Today, Muffin is a healthy tortie girl who has never meet another cat she didn't like. She's friendly with stranger cats the first time she sees them. She's still very tiny and has no chance of adding to the pet population. She's a special girl and a sweet girl.

I was doing a job shadow last year at a local vet clinic and watched a zillion spays and neuters that day. One cat was pregnant, they just removed the kittens and threw them in the trash It was so heartbreaking But I do agree with moosmom, I think if the pregnancy is not that far along it would be in the best interest of the momma and kittens to terminate it, I wouldn't want to add to already ginormous unwanted cat population

regardless how far the mother is along, I would say term. BUT if the kittens were far along then they must be PTS, not just tossed in the trash to die!! Then I would burry them.

I only say this cause I worked at the shelter back home & the shelter was forced to kill 50 cats/week. They were picky on which cats were PTS, but still it sucked. The town had such an overpopulation of cats it had to be done. Many residents were killing cats left right & center, as it was that bad.

I remember waking up & seeing atleast 5 cats in our little yard & every night the cat fights would keep me up.

I personally think its horrible to but a healthy animal to sleep, but when there is nowhere for a pet to go in an old small town, sometimes its just best for the animal.
