    Food brands

Well, I read everyones replies on the 'what are we feeding our dogs these days' post and decided to change the food brand Leika is eating. She is very picky about her food and she doesn't eat with much happiness her Eukanuba. I decided to buy her Purina puppy chow and it is working. I mix it up with Eukanuba 'cause there is still some. What do you think about my food brand change?

I think that if she eats it happily, and you think it's the best you can get her, she has no health problems from it, go ahead!though I think I would personally favor Eukanuba, over Dog Chow, maybe it is okay for her body and health...just as with humans, yes?

Many many dogs have done just fine on Purina puppy and dog foods. I guess my only question is why you would downgrade at this point, unless it is a financial consideration.

There are so many options it can get very confusing, can't it?? I've done it all ways...fed last dog Alpo...didn't know any better, and my Goldens, as puppies, were eating Purina Puppy Chow. I got interested and concerned after joining the Golden Retriever Board and learning about other food alternatives. I switched to Flint River Ranch, which I ordered over the internet. They loved it...only they got fat. So I switched to Iams, the Weight Control Formula, and now Honey doesn't like that!! LOL!!! The list goes on and on.

Anyway, you do what you think is right, get regular vet checks and just love your baby........

I think you will be fine regardless!

I say good choice in switching. I really honestly don't see how Iams products are any better then Purina or any other name brand food for that matter. So I don't think you would have to worry health wise. And just think by switching brands your saving dogs lives. Can't see any harm in that.

Believe it or not, there is a HUGE difference between the premium brands and the grocery store brands.

The difference isn't going to hurt the animal, but premium foods are better.

Grocery store pet food can vary a great deal from bag to bag. Its all in the numbers. Everyone here knows what havoc suddenly changing a dog's food can wreak on their digestive system. Its the same basic things.

Premium foods have more stable percentages of nutrients and ingedients, and better quality ingredients. Its a more regular diet.

I changed the brand 'cause Leika is one of a 1000 or millions picky eaters. She got bored of it, like we get bored of some stuff. She still doesn't eat sometimes 'cause I still mix what is left of her eukanubabut she's got no choice.

I didn't say grocery store brands I said name brands wich means premium brands to me ... lol.. Sorry for the confusion. My slang way of talking

I know grocery store no name dog food is .. for lack of a better word crap ..lol.. Thats what my brother use to feed his min pin before he moved in with us saying it was easy just to pick it up with our groceries he had the runs from it and wasn't gaining the weight a puppy nedded. He was then put on purina and is full of energy no more runs and looks so buff and handsome.
