    Anchorage roof moose rescue

The Anchorage Daily News reports on the successful rescue of an 8-month-old moose from a roof. With photo.

I remember looking out our window into the back yard and seeing the shadow cast on the ground of a squirrel that was sitting on the roof above me. Good thing it wasn't a moose.

    Wow!
    Moose on the roof!

    Moose on the loose
    Those wandering hooves!

Moose says "Here or maybe there
There's gotta be some yummies somewhere ..."

"Maybe that deck's the place to be
Maybe there'll be food for me"

"Nothing here, well, what'll I do?
Better check the place next door, too!"

"This thing's shiny, the ground looks odd
Well, kinda like the pond does 'fore it gets thaw'd"

"On I go - oh no!
My leg goes through to the space below!"

"How come that's not water beneath?
What kinda pond is this beast?"

    "Okay, got that hoof free,
Maybe over here's the food for me ..."

    Crash, crunch through the roof
"Oh help! I'm stuck with all my hooves ..."

"Hey, you, there mister - better call for help
I'm stuck to my tailbone, do something, don't yelp!"

Hello, Sir, there's a problem with your roof,
Well, something stuck on it - oh yeah, it's a moose!

"Stuck I was, then hit by a dart
What happened next? I don't remember that part ..."

"Well, that was embarrassing, but at least now I'm free
And that wierd shiny not-pond has seen the last of me!"
