    The Gardener's Friend?

I have always been under the impression that hedgehogs are the "gardener's friend" because they eat slugs, bugs and other nasties that otherwise can gobble up all your precious tender plants. It seems I was wrong.

Quite often, if we are eating outside in the summer, I will bring the cat bowls out as well, so that we can all eat together! Later on, two or three hedgehogs usually come round for the leftovers. I generally try to remember to pick the plates up then, because the slugs move in next, and I like to get the plates away before they have been "slimed".

That is not always possible. These slugs are either very brave or very silly.

I don't know the first thing about hedgehogs - or slogs, but they sure seem to get a good meal. What a fantastic picture!

    ditto!!!

If the hedgehog eats slugs, what in the world are they doing climbing all over the poor thing?

Great picture though. The only hedgies I've ever seen were at the pet show that Sara and I used to go to every spring.

EEEEWWWWWW! We have snails but at least they keep their shells on!

Perhaps the hedgehogs are so well feed the idea of eating a slug (eeewwww) does appeal to them?

Since Debbie and I saw the hedgehog olympics I hae wanted to see one "up close and personable!"

I can only think that this is the case.

I'm amazed that few other people seem to have hedgies - or slugs!

    Great picture.
The slug I could have done with-out.
    Those are BIG.
When I was camping up North in the Redwoods they had
yellow slugs that were easily that size.
I am not much of a slug person.
