    Can anyone from Florida help?

Can anyone from Florida take this girl in temporarily? Or spread the word to someone who might be able to?

Hey. I have a question. My fiance's older sister has a very sweet pitbull and due to some housing issues she can't keep her for about a month or so. I would take her except I can't have pitbulls in my apartment, and my parents can't take her because they have six dogs inc. 2 pits already and just can't handle any more. She is not spayed, she had puppies last year, and is currently in heat. She is calm and loves people and kids and is really great with other dogs and she is supposedly good with cats too. She came from the pound and is about 2 years old. She really is so sweet and I don't want anything bad to happen to her. If anyone in the south or central florida area, specifically Fort Myers/Naples/Sarasota/Tampa/St. Petersburg/Orlando area can babysit this dog for a month or possibly more, please let me know ASAP!!! She only has a week left to stay in her current situation and my fiance's sister does want her back once she has her new place to live.

If only she was further north. I live really close to the FL/AL border. Wish I could help.
My pets are usually pleased with what I do, because they are not inflected with the concept of what I SHOULD be doing. My time is owned by: Missie,Thor, and Trinity!

I'd really consider asking my parents if the dog was spayed and had shots.
    Poor dog.

I can't believe she's come from the pound? Unless it was somewhere else, most shelters down here will not allow you to adopt a dog unless it's fixed or you have it fixed on your own. They also make sure you have vet visits for shots within a week or so.

Unfortunately, the rescue group I deal with doesn't work with pits. Sorry. Wish I could help.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

I wish I could help too, but I can't have a large dog right now. I just don't have the room.

Wish I could help too, but I'm afraid our dogs won't take kindly to another one.

They sound pretty irresponsible - unspayed, no vaccinations - "all natural" my foot. No one in a rescue group would be likely to help, as they probably all have dogs already, and without vaccinations or any veterinary care, who knows what she could be carrying. It would be a big risk. Can she pay someone to board the dog professionally?

I am sure the person who posted that loves the dog, and the dog would be better off with her - and spayed. But you all know that!!!!!

Poor, poor, pitty girl. I hope she gets a better home, or her owners learn more responsibility from this experience.

I am nowhere near Florida, just had to post, as the situation is too sad. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr to irresponsible owners.

Oh, I agree with you Karen! I'm sure it would have been much easier to find someone to take her if she was UTD on shots and spayed. And thanks to those who want to help. If you could possibly spread the word to any dog lovers around your area, maybe we can find this girl a temporary home.

I'll go to livejournal again and ask about boarding her.

Well, I asked. Here's what she said:

I was going to take her, and then found out that we had been lied to about the original situation, and then I was told that her owner found her another place to go. I doubt it is a high quality home, she wasn't in one before and the people her owner associate with are not good, to say the least. There is just so much craziness going on right now, I feel bad for the poor dog but I have no way to find out where she went. I'm like 200 miles away right now, if I was closer I would have just gone and gotten her, but we had to wait for the weekend to make the trip. Thanks for trying to help though.
I guess there's really nothing we can do now..

You know, without Up to Date shots, no reputable kennel would board her either.

I hope she will be ok. What a mess!!!!
