Valentines Day Is Near

I’m not expecting a dozen red and white roses
Or even a candle light dinner with red wine
Or you and me cuddling by the fire late and night
Holding each other tight
Kissing each other gently on the lips
I’m not expecting
An over stuffed teddy bear with lace
Or you and me dancing with grace
I’m not even expecting you to admire the stars with me
Or even share that brilliant round blue gray moon
That I’m hoping to share with you soon
I’m not expecting anything on Valentines Day
I’m not even hoping or even asking for much
I’m afraid I won’t even get a kiss
O how I miss those lips
I’m not expecting a card
Full of hearts roses verse and rhyme
No not this time
I’m not asking for much or expecting anything
Every time I do even get my hopes up for a valentine
I get ignored each and every time
I’m not asking much
Just for you to pick up the phone and maybe say hi
That would make heart come alive
To hear your voice wish me
A Happy Valentines Day
That isn’t asking for much.
