Story: For The Love Of Judith........

Received this story today in my PAW (Pet & Animal World) news
email & wanted to share it. It is an opinion piece written about
    a dog re-named Judith by a B.C. organization.

http://www.anc.org This dog's story is also available on their
website. Sad to say, but it doesn't show the SPCA in Canada in
    a very good light.

These type of situations disturb me more than any other. I would rather see a dog humanely euthanized than put through this kind of torture.

My sister's neighbor had a dog that was treated like this. Needless to say, that dog accidentally got loose one day and taken to the SPCA. My sister got a call about a week later letting her know the dog was now in a new home and doing very well, taking over the sofa and the hearts of her new family.

If you go to http://dogsdeservebetter.com you can download posters about this injustice to our fur friends. We printed a bunch off on colored paper and have been posting them on bulliten boards all over town. The grocery store, Walmart, Target, anywhere that would let us put them up. We have also been putting them in doors at homes we know are keeping pets this way. One of my friends had a poster made and put it in her yard. (She has a neighbor who never lets the dog inside)

I urge everyone to get involved and do anything you can to stop this legal abuse.

    Oh How Horrible!!!!
To see Sweet Judith like that...Though I am Glad that she had one year of Peace & Love....That was not near enough...Not to insinuate the rescuers didn't do enough,Just that it was such an Injustice to go on for So Long!!!The Rescue people did a Great Job,Getting her healthy and rehoming her!!!!

Did they prosecute the former owners???

My Heart is aching for that Sweet Girl...
I know I can't take them ALL in....But when I see this,it is my first thought to move hell & high water to get them....

God Rest Your Sweet Soul Dear Judith...

    Clara,

I do agree, chaining a dog 24/7 outside, away from it's "people"
is the one of the worst forms of abuse. The dog dies inside a little
    every day.

I do like the Dogs Deserve Better initiatives, especially ones
    envolving children.

"The American organization Dogs Deserve Better, 2003 First Prize Winner of the ASPCA Pet Protector Award, is holding its second annual national Valentine campaign, entitled "Have a Heart for Chained Dogs." It runs from Febuary 7-14th, The link explaining this effort is here:

One of the abuses that upsets me greatly is not allowing the dog into the house. I know that dogs are social creatures. In particular, my breed (GSDs), needs to be with its family, needs interaction, needs to be included....
I am glad that Judith finally found a little happiness. Her story just broke my heart. RIP, Judith, you finally found true love.

I read that also, and it brought tears to my eyes.
At least she knew one year of a good life, but it wasn't nearly enough to make up for all she had been through.

I have seen the Valentine's campaign for the leashed dogs too--I know the dogs can't read the cards, but it's teaching children a good lesson--hopefully one they will remember when they are old enough to have pets of their own.

I hate it when I see a dog chained up outside. I know it's none of my business, but I keep an eye on my neighbors dog all the time--they put him out quite often, and I always watch the clock and make sure he isn't out there for hours. I know he really hates it too. Sometimes I will go out and play with him, or call them and bring him over to play in our backyard.

    RIP Judith

    RIP Judith
Teaching children about kindness & compassion for animals can
never start to early in my view. Who knows, they might not ever
have gotten these lessons at home.

Oh, but I think it is our business to speak up for the dogs who
are victims of severe neglect & abuse, as Judith was. If it wasn't
for neighbors calling again & again to complain to the SPCA, she
might have died just right where she was and never known the
loving touch of kindness from any human beings.

I'm glad you do watchout for your neighbor's dog.
