    rough pads

Abbey's pads on her feet are pretty rough--not at all like Riley's or Kito's--they both have soft feet.

She doesn't act like it does, but I'm afraid it may be bothering or hurting her.

What can I put on them for her????

    Maybe "Bag Balm" would help.

"Bag Balm is a medicated salve for minor cuts, scratches, abrasions, chapped skin, wind, and sunburn. Ointment can remain on your pet as a full antiseptic and to soften the skin."

"The original ointment for soothing chapped skin, small scrapes and cuts. Ideal for horses, cattle, pets or other domestic animals suffering from occasional skin irritations."

Water helps alot with making feet softer.

Are they just rough, or do they have holes in them? Maybe you should talk to the vet and see if it's normal.

With Timber, I encourage the pads to be rough, because she does alot of running.

There's different creams made for paws.....I know there's one called Protecta-Paw or something that we have at work. I put it on Nebo when I take him (once a month or so) to work...seems to help. You don't want them *too* soft of course, so I wouldn't put it on that often. Go over to Petco and ask the groomers about the "Paws Plus" package and they can show you the stuff.

Rocky has rough pads too. But it doesn't seem
to bother him so I did not worry about it.
I figure it's because he digs etc.

    Thanks everyone!!

Abbey's pads don't seem to bother her--but if she jumps up they hurt!!!!!

My concern with putting something on them is that she'll just lick it off

    Thanks for the suggestions

We bought some Protecta Paw for Millie. Hers hurt me every time she jumped up into my lap. They’re a lot softer now. It really helped. She tried to lick it off and got a taste and decided she didn’t like the flavor. It must be really gross if Millie doesn’t like it!
