Another mud story to tell!

Carl - the Rottweiler absolutely HATES getting his paws muddy or wet. But, that's kind of hard to avoid when the whole yard is a mud pond, except for the little islands here and there. So, when I take Carl out, he hops from one little island to the next, trying as hard as he can not to step in the mud!

That's funny! My Bandit, the Pug, is the same way! I went to my Mom's house for a holiday and Bandit was out with my other dog Jeffrey and my brother's dogs, Cheech and Chong. Cheech, Chong and Jeffrey would run through all the mud puddles, but Bandit would run, come upon a mud puddle, walk around it then start running again. It was hilarious!

Daisy has a mud problem. She doesn't hate it or love it, but she is a loooow dog! We had some warm days (40 is very warm for us ) here this week and so my driveway is just a big mud hole. My poor Daisy came inside today with her entire stomach brown and dripping, resulting in bath #2 of the week. She's still mad at me but she was a mess! She didn't get this dirty last year! I think I know where those 9 extra pounds she has gained since summer went to Hey the stomach is her Mommy's problem area too! Hehe.

No mud on St. Patrick's Day....just 3" of SNOW. Where oh where is that March lamb??
At least Polar Dog is happy. She's thrilled with snow, but like the others...the worst thing in the world is wet grass.

Genia...I think our pugs were seperated at birth! Cassie does the same things with mud puddles! She must know that pugs sink like stones in water, so she does not like water, puddles, snow, or wet ground at all. If she can't walk around puddles when I am taking her for a walk, then she'll either "put her brakes on" before the puddle, or she'll try to become "the super, flying pugglet" and attempt a most non-graceful jump over the puddle. It cracks me up every time she takes a stab at grace and tries to fly over the puddle. She's so funny

Graham's not fond of mud puddles when they are small, but when they are big enough to wade in, as we have in the dog park now, then he enjoys "swimming" in the major puddles. Otherwise he just jumps over them or walks around them.

Dirty Paws

Single-dog owners can probably sit Spot down and
clean his
wet, muddy feet at the door. For those of us with
more than
one dog, that's usually not an option. An old cotton
sheet
spread on the floor works well. Simply corral the
dogs on
the sheet long enough for the material to absorb the
water,
mud, dirt, or whatever. The sheet dries quickly, can
be
refolded to a clean side and reused several times
before
washing. It's also tidier than having to deal with a
bunch
of wet, slow-drying, dirty towels.

Keep some treats handy. The dogs will quickly learn
that
when the sheet is there, they'll be rewarded for
staying on
it.

It really sounds like it would work too! Will let you all know as it I'm sure we'll have the need to try it any day now.
