Thread: They have been 3 ft. from each other for hours...

They have been 3 ft. from each other for hours...

This boy, Guinness, is a gem...he is soo tolerant of Dandy's little attitude (typical of a girl, right ?) She has been doing nothing but hissing and he just looks at her with a blank stare on his face No physical interaction...just very curious of each other...hope her hissing doesnt last too long...if she would let him...i think he would walk over and groom her right now...oh well, i guess its progress. It has only been 4.5 hrs. She needs to get over herself and give him a try heheheh.

He really is a wonderful cat and i am surprised she is acting so scared (b/c she is normally laid back)...but maybe it has something to do with being a female cat...i dont know...alright, time to go back and watch the action I will post pics tomorrow...stay tuned

Btw, in between hissings, she'll play with her toy. They did lay on the floor relaxed for a while...just no interaction...

Edited to say-Actually, i did add some pics of them together...a few posts down...couldn't resist.

I just have to say, I love those two little cat head animations in your signature,
I have a feeling Dandy is looking just like the little white one with all the hissing she is doing.
Give them time, I hope it works out, I guess Dandy is just used to being the Queen of the house.

Alrighty, I decided to post some pics tonight...

They are pretty relaxed...not really any chasing, she just needs to stop hissing...but i guess that it is good that she is relaxed enough to play with her toy in front of him...hopefully closer pics tomorrow

Methinks Dandy doth protest too much. Looks good to me. I predict they will be grooming each other and playing by the end of the week if not sooner. Females are just such territorial prima donnas. She'll be fine.

    Such great progress!

Robyn, all looks good to me. I hope tomorrow night runs as smoothly for me as it has for you.

Have you tried playing with them, with one toy, and making them share? Sometimes that'll do it. They may just TOUCH each other by mistake!

Keep us posted, but I suspect all will be fine once Ms. Dandy gives up her throne.

Christian'smommy, give them time. My Cookie cat still hisses at Mopsy, and she has been her for less than a week. It may take anywhere from 3 to 14 days for them to accept each other. But since they are not physically fighting, they should come together soon.

actually, I think everything looks completely normal. As a matter of fact, BETTER than normal. In my experiences it IS always the female that has the attitudes. And besides, she was there first! (in her opinion) And Little Kim, even as a kitten, coming INTO the house as the newcomer, hissed a lot, even after I thought she was accepting her (much bigger) siblings.

Sounds like little Dandy is wanting to send Guinness the message that she is going to "wear the pants" in this family! LOL! I think it's going extremely well too. It'll only improve from here! They'll probably be laying in a kitty pile by the weekend!

I totally agree! They'll be playing together in less than a week.

    Great pics!

Even though I know nothing about kitties, those pictures look very encouraging to me. She is obviously interested in him and and he in her and Guinness must have gotten a clean bill of health from the vet. Alright!

We've got progress. The hissing is pretty much stopped and she is just very interested in him. She follows him everywhere. He jumped out at her as if he wanted to play and she jumped a little, but stayed there and then they touched noses Ahhhh.. i am so happy for them..they will have a great friendship

They will be licking each other before you know it.
I sure wish my two liked each other
    Looking forward to more pics.
