My new Filly no name yet

I went to a horse auction last night and bought a 2yr old filly for a dollar. Horse prices are in the dumps right now. The reason she was so cheep is she is so skinny, she was so hungry she was trying to eat anything she could get ahold of, she was in a pen with a ten yr old that was just as skinny. My friend bought him for 17 dollars. About the only thing I can say about the old owners atleast they got rid of them befor they died. If I do this right Ill post a picture of her.

The man is my hubby, she is so friendly she follows you around like a puppy, and so hungry she didnt know what to eat first the grain, alfalfa or grass hay. She kept going from one pile to the other.

AWww, thank goodness you and your friend saved these poor horses. I'm sure with your love and care she will fill out and be a beautiful girl.

Here's a few name suggestions, if you want them.
    Faith
    Grace
    Hope
(can you see where I'm going with this? )

She is one lucky girl to have found you.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

How terrible...the only place I've ever seen horses in that condition was at the slaughterhouses or out where they have more horses than they know what to do with and the SPCA nabs them.. The horse is also lame on her left front foot, might think of checking that out if you get a chance. So nice to see her get a second chance.

    Hope

I showed my daughter a picture of the filly and her name is Hope thanks for the ideas. I have watched her walk around and no problems but I will keep an eye on her Im sure she is going to have some problems. It is almost winter and the worst time of year to try to put weight on a horse. I may even have to blanket her to help her out this winter. The other horses in the background are mine Hope makes #5 for us.

Bless you for helping her out! Good vibes headed her way for a quick recovery. With some love and plenty of food, I am sure she will blossom in no time.

Its great to hear your friend helped out the other horse in need, too. Great job!

    Thank you.

It is so sweet of you to take care of this baby. She is so skinny. Please keep us posted as she fattens up! Such a shame to let a horse get so darn skinny. It breaks my heart!

You and your hubby are such angels.

    Love Hope!!

What terrific people you are, to rescue Hope and her buddy and try to feed them and give them a lot of attention. I am an old horse lover, too, and adore warm, true stories like yours. Good luck. Please do keep us posted.

Don't know if you have beet pulp for horses where you are, but lots of people here use it to fatten up their horses. Easier than shoving grain on them and keeps them warm too. Don't forget it has to be soaked. Hope is such a perfect name for that filly...good luck with her.

Oh, those poor babies! Thank you - now she has landed in the best possible place - a Pet Talk home! I love her name, give her an apple for me, okay?

    update on Hope

Today is a week since we brought Hope home, she dosen't look better but her energy is up she even winnied at us for the first time on Wednesday she is moving faster than she was on Saturday, and she is drinking twice as much water now compaired to Sunday and Monday. I gave her 5 days of wormer, vet told me to, by day five she opened her mouth and put the tube in her mouth her self. We put a big round bale of prarie grass hay in for her to munch to her hearts content, vet also said this would be ok.
I dont think she had ever been brushed I was brushing her she kept watching me as if to say what are you doing. I dont think it will take long and she will enjoy it. My aunt came out to see Hope yesterday and I think she was about to cry, seeing in person makes it more real than pictures. Hope just stood there and wanted to be petted.
I checked on beet pulp at my feed store it is back ordered they will let me know when some comes in.
