Today at work a very snoody lady came in. She asked if we could put her three dogs to sleep. We told her we could. She filled out her paperwork and brought the dogs in. We weighed them and turned to ask her if she wanted to be present when they passed. She said "No. I just want their collars. I would rather never see them again." I was so shocked. She didn't care about these dogs. I asked her why she was having the dogs put to sleep. If they were agressive. She said "No, they are nice dogs. I just don't want them anymore."

The first dog was a sweet little 8 month old Pittie boy. He was sweet as pie and didn't quite understand why he was there. We put a muzzel on him and slid the needle in his leg. A few seconds later he was gone.

The next were two 75lb Black Lab mixes. About 5 yrs old. Sweetest dogs I've ever met. Loved to give kisses. Their ears were fly bitten to the point they were bleeding. We put muzzels on each of them and the vet put the first one down. I think the second dog knew his buddy was dead. He looked at his friend, tucked his tail and started crying. About a minute later he too was dead.

As I was bagging up these dogs I started to tear up. I've helped put a lot of dogs down, but these dogs touched me. They were good dogs. They had no reason to die. The puppy had years of life ahead of him, but thanks to an uncareing and unreponsible owner who just didn't want the dogs anymore they are now in a trash bag in a freezer.
