    Five minute chocolate cake

A friend emailed this to me. I haven't tried it yet but I thought I'd pass it along.

    MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

    1 Coffee Mug (large mug)
4 tablespoons flour (that's plain flour, not self-rising)
    4 tablespoons sugar
    2 tablespoons baking cocoa
    1 egg
    3 tablespoons milk
    3 tablespoons oil
    3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
    some nuts (optional)
    Small splash of vanilla

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well.
Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes on high. The cake
will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT! (serves 2, if you want to share!)
And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!
    Blessings,
    Mary

I've got to show this to my daughter-in-law. She could eat cake for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and is also a chocoholic! She'll love it!

Mmmmm this is not so good for the whole weight loss plan I certainly didn't drop these 15 lbs by eating chocolate cake....

I think I'll try this recipe during naptime today

My co-worker also sent me this recipe. My only question is - - what makes it rise? There is no baking powder or baking soda, so wouldn't it wind up being just like thick cocoa? I will be interested to see how it turns out for those who will try it.

OK, here's the play by play. First, Tyler was so super excited to get to try a baking project!

Then we splashed flour on his face, because it's not really baking if you don't get flour on your nose!

Then we mixed up all of the ingredients and they became the texture of a thick brownie batter

3 minutes later we pulled it out. It rose a little bit but quickly deflated once it was removed from the microwave.

Then we posed with it... because chocolate is wonderful and it deserved to be celebrated.

    Then we tasted it....

The texture was similar to oatmeal that has been left out on the counter too long and the flavor was kind of like hot cocoa that was neither hot not very cocoa-y.

    Oh well, we tried!

Well I enjoyed watching you guys make it probably more than I would enjoy the cake itself. Too bad it wasn't so yummy but looks like some good Mom and Tyler bonding time.

Tried it today and mine turned out great. Didn't have nuts or chocolate chips. High on our microwave is 1000 watts. Also, after the buzzer went off, I left it in the microwave for a few more minutes. Maybe that makes a difference?

Oh, what a beautiful girl she is. It looks like she had some milk with her cake.
