    Eye Infection!!!

OK...I came home from work last week and my Simba had a red inflamed looking eye with yellow puss running out of it. I called my vet and he told me to bring him in. He gave him a shot and said it was an "infection". He never told me what kind. I was so upset (actually crying in the vet's office..lol) that I didn't ask him. He said he would be fine in a few days. Well...he's not and now another one of my cat's has the same yellow puss running out of her eyes! They don't seem to be sick, still running and playing but I don't know what the yellow puss is...Please let me know if you do! Thanks...

Unfortunately, with multiple cats one gets eye infection the rest get it too.
I'm guessing a human version of conjuctivities. I would call the vet let them know another cat has the eye infection. They will probably prescribe eye ointment or antibotic pill or both. Be sure you wash your hands after being in contact with the cats. You can pass it on from one cat to other just by touching.

Good advice you already got so I will just say "ditto" to what has already been said.

Thank you...I figured it was cat "pink eye". The vet gave us some ointment to put on once a day. We're using it on the other cat as well. Simba's eye is looking a bit better but he's still having the puss. I guess it'll just take some time. Thanks again!

Just out of curiosity?? I had taken my oldest of the three cats in for her anal glands and since I was there I was going to have her take a look at her eye that seemed to be swollen and red with a little discharge. She did a dye test and nothing showed now today I looked at my little foster kitties eye and both of hers are draining and swollen do you think it could be the same thing???? Mopars went away after the doctor put some ointment in her eye. Should I just get some more of that and start treating them all?? Where in the world would we have gotten that in our home none of our cats go outside??? I tell ya the vet bill just keep on building. Is this something I will be dealing with for sometime??
    Thanks for the help
She did just get spayed could something during surgury cause this???

The main thing is to be careful not spreading it from one eye to the other and as others said wash your hands after each cat,be sure to continue the treatment for the exact time the vet said otherwise it will come back, I have a kitty also with that problem, not my kitty , but long story, I have been treating them daily with a human eye drop that is safe for cats and it seems to be helping a lot,but i cannot always grab the kitty, so it tends to keep coming back, good luck, I am sure in time they will be healed and back to normal.
