In the screen door?

Cooler weather is coming and We still sleep with the front door open.

There are times, in the middle of the night when I wake up and check the house on the way to the rest room...

My heart melts when I see the Edster at his post.....
Sitting in the dark, doing his nocturnal patrol. He watches the world go by and during the night the dogs will come to the door and report to him.
"Ed, the perimeter is clear, permission to continue?"
The Edster gives his blessing and the world goes on.

BUT<
There are times when a calico kitty comes to visit, The Edster begins him pawing at the screen door.

Ed, Stop it.


Scritch, scritch...

STOP IT!

The other night I got out of bed and went to close the door. THAT FRICKING SCRATCHING WAS DRIVING ME NUTS!

I reached over, told the edster to get out of the way and closed the door.


I went back to bed and heard

Meow, scratch scratch scratch..


Ed, I closed the door so I could sleep...

Meow, scratch scratch scratch..

Ed, go to sleep

Meow, scratch scratch scratch..

ED---Ack!!!!

Meow, scratch scratch scratch..

I am out of bed and go to the door and there is no ED THERE!

WTF????

I look around, his window seat, the litter box...NO ED ANYWHERE..

A meow later and I hear him on the other side of the door?

NOW, HOW THE EFF DID HE GET OUTSIDE?

I open the door and there, halfway up the screen door sitting on the bar that divides the top from the bottom is the Edster....


When I closed the door I trapped the poor Edster in between the hard door and the screen door..

He climbed the screen door and made his pitch as to why he should be let out.

When I opened the door he looked at me and said something like, "Dude, wake up next time?"

I agreed, we laughed about it and the Edster held no malice toward my stupidity....
