No, they do not stink, not unless you never clean their cage!

Like Karen said, they don't smell unless you don't clean their cage. Right now we have two hamsters (a syrian and a dwarf(not housed together, of course!)) and they don't put off hardly any smell at all.

I think they do have a smell. Even when the cage is newly clean, they still have an slight odor.

I never noticed that hamsters stink. I've noticed that they do have a smell to them, but, most pets have some smell. I wouldn't call it a bad odor, though. But, some people's noses are a lot more sensitive than others. Dirty hamster cages usually lead to dirty hamsters, though, but, that's the owner's fault.

When I worked at PetCo.... cleaning the hamsters cage was my LEASTTTT favorite job. They were cleaned every other day, but boyyyyy they stank SO BAD and they managed to get pee in places I didn't even think was possible. It was so gross lol

Shoot I would offer to do the ferrett cage. The ferrett cage was not bad AT ALL. I mean sure they got poop all over teh side of the cage but that was easy to clean up lol

How many hamster where in the cage though?

I had a best friend who had 14 hamsters at once (her one had babies) and her room didn't stink unless she did not clean their cages.
My neighbor also has a hamster, and that one doesn't have a been stench to it either.
So, as Karen and Chilli said, nope, not unless you don't clean their cage

the hamster cage at the petstore i worked at was a big 50gal fish tank. they stuffed anywhere between 20-40 hamsters in there.

A lot of rodents have an odour about them, mostly it is not urine but scent glands. Tia has a funny musty smell, but you can only smell it when she's right near your nose. Generally, male rodents have a more pungent urine, and if you don't want a pet that smells too bad then it's best to have a female. That is why I am only allowed female rodents as my mum does not like their smell! But as others have said, the more you clean out the cage, and the more air freshener you use, the less the smell
