is it normal to have cat's fight for a year?????

Before I brought my second cat home, my veterinarian supplied me with alot of useful information on introducing the girls and what do to if it wasn't working out. I learned quite a bit that really came in helpful. Fortunately, it only took about 6 weeks for them to decide they could stand to live together. Maybe give your vet a call? Good luck!!!

Do you have areas for them to "get away" from each other? Cat trees for example? How many cats do you have? If you only have two, can you separate them for a while, and then slowly reintroduce them? Have you noticed a pattern of what sets them off? How frequently does it happen? You also wrote about a cat being in heat on another thread - if your cats are not spayed/neutered, they can be more aggressive. Give more details, I'm sure someone will be able to help you out.

If it's money, the local shelter might know of a low cost spay and neuter program.

Is that why you can't? The cost?

On another thread you write about your cat Miss Prissy - who had babies that died, and then got pregnant again. You talked there of not being able to afford spay/neuter, and of not finding anyplace to help. Is that still the case, or do you NOT want to spay/neuter your cats? Do you know the dangers?

I have seen cats die from pyometra - a deadly infection of the uterus, where pus comes out the vagina. The vet needs to do an emergency hysterectomy (surgery to take the uterus out), and hope that the infection has not spread to the point of killing the cat. I have seen cats with mammary cancer - it is a VERY aggressive cancer. Pyometra cannot happen in a spayed female. Mammary cancer risks are greatly reduced if you spay your cat at a young age.

Your male cat could develop testicular cancer. Not to mention, the problems you are having with them fighting.

If I lived in near you in Texas, I would even drive you to the clinic. Is that also part of the problem?

Yes I had 2 cats that didnt get on for years. They didnt fight as much as ignore each other and walk away from each other and maybe give the odd growl. Every now and again they would make friends for a while and then fall out again.
