    Finally spawned my Bettas!! =D

Hoooooly cow. I've been trying to get a spawn going for ages. A few couples embraced but none were able to get the eggs to release. It FINALLY happened this time.

I'm horrible at estimating but it looks like there are about 40-60 fry. The eggs were released Wednesday morning and hatched Thursday night. They should be free-swimming pretty soon!

Here's Papa (who was originally named Wilma.. but turned out to be a Wilmer LOL):

    And Mama (Betty):

    The embrace..

Daddy picking up the eggs (Don't worry, she didn't die. She was in a paralyzed state..)

Here's a picture of the bubblenest. You can see some of the eggs (teeny tiny white spots in the nest)

I also took a video of the embrace. If you look closely, you can see the eggs falling down.

    Will do!

I love plakats too.. they're probably my favorite tail type The mom of Betty and Wilmer was an SD and the dad was a plakat! Since this is an F2 spawning, there should be quite a few plakats!!

Just thought I'd do a little uppy-date.. most of the fry are free-swimming now and have had their first meal of microworms. There was an easy 40-60 or so yesterday but now I'm not so sure. I pulled dad out.. I really hope he didn't help himself to a snack. I only see about 20 left (if even). I'm hoping they're all just hiding behind the plants.

I also got a few pictures:

Here's one of the babies. It's the little black thing
