Cat is sometimes sick after eating

    Hello
We have had ur cat Pepper fr a few weeks and have kept her on the dried food that the last owners had her on. My only problem is that she is sick 1-2 times per week and when she is it is very dry and just looks like her dried food and nothing else. We do leave a bowl of fresh water for her and she does drink from it. We have also cut down the amount we are giving her thinking that we may have been over feeding her but it makes no difference and she is now hungry!
Does anyone have any ideas why she may be sick? Is there anything we can d oto prevent it?
She is also boked into the vet this Friday for her de-fleaing and de worming! So we will also ask then.
    Many thanks

You didn't mention the brand of food you're giving her. Is it a premium food or supermarket stuff?

I'd switch to a premium diet, like Hills or Iams. You might also want to try giving her a little canned food each day, again use Hills or Iams.

If the vomiting persists, try a sensitive stomach formula, hairball formula or the lamb/rice formula.

I would also start her on Laxatone or Petromalt or another brand of hairball remedy on a regular basis. These are usually pretty palatable to cats and can be given as a treat.

The food is a brand called 'james wellbeloved' I am in the uk so it may be a uk onlu brand?
I will try puting a little wet food with it to see if it makes a difference - although she can be picky!

I'm glad you are taking her to the vet because her vomiting could be caused by many different things. I have a cat who has been vomitting up part of her meal a couple of times a week for nearly 20 years. There's nothing wrong with her, it's just something she and her sister do/did. If she has worms, she may feel very hungry all the time. When a cat gets super hungry and then eats, even when they don't bolt the food, that can make them vomit. Someone on this forum, I think, but in another thread mentioned that dry food was harder for a cat to digest than wet food.
