    First runs on snow!

I ran three little teams today--on the sled. No more ATV. I took tiny teams--four dogs. There isn't quite enough snow to set the hook yet. Four dogs is easier to keep under control, less chance of walking home! I forgot the camera at home for the first team! Oops, but I got pics of the last two runs.

Raven, Mac, Deuce and Antare. This was the first time Raven has run up front without one of the more experienced girls beside her. We had a few minor problems with her turn directions, but she did a flawless ON-BY past a loose dog. That's a whole lot harder to teach than gee and haw! Go, Raven!!

Team 3 was horribly mismatched in terms of size, but they were also the fastest of the day! Pingo, Franklin, Chase & Hobo. Hobo normally runs alone as he's a lunatic. He did pretty well beside Chase though. Chase is dead calm at hook up. He never barks or howls. When Hobo tried to bite him(he has to do something with his energy), Chase just turned his head and ignored him. I love that dog!

Franklin ran up front with Pingo. He did great! I'm not sure how it would have gone if we had run into anyone, but the trails were deserted. Franklin tends to get jumped by loose dogs. It's happened so often that he sometimes starts it now. I might try him beside Paxil next time. She's a stronger command leader than Pingo.

I'm so glad to have the ATV parked!

So lucky! We're expecting some more snow on Wednesday, so hopefully this will be the one that stays all season (we're way overdue for snow)! I've already gotten to run the guys this season, but I almost killed my runner plastic on the dirt and rocks under the small layer of snow, lol.

You get to have so much fun! I know it's a lot of work but it must be worth it. You live in a beautiful area. That snow is so pretty. I wish Florida got snow like that! In that last pic, the dog on the left, is that Pingo? I've got a soft spot in my heart for that old boy.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.
