Weird cat behavior?

My cat will just come up and bite you for no reason. Like today, my mom was laying on the couch, and she just walked up, jumped next to her, and bite her hard on the arm. Is that normal behavior?Or how do I stop it?

How old is the cat? I have had kittens that will do this when playing, but they grew out of it.

Otherwise, try a spray bottle- it worked for us to get our 1 year old to stop pouncing on our feet in bed at night.
