    Kitty Overbite

    Hi All,
I am new to this site. My daughter is a member and always has wonderful things to say about all of you.
She recently posted a picture of my Snowball who defeated distemper. I recently noticed that he has an overbite. Not a little one but a big one. His bottom canines go inside his mouth and hit the roof of his mouth. I am going to take him to the vet this week but am wondering if anyone here has seen or has any experience with this sort of thing? Thanks so much.
    Linda

Linda ~ Welcome to Pet Talk.
I'm sorry, but I don't have any advice about underbites. None of mine have that. Halo has "fangs" that hang down from her top row and stick out of her mouth just slightly. She looks like a little vampire sometimes.

It's probably not a big problem for Snowball. Unless it causes problems with eating. Please keep us posted on what the vet says.

    Lord, what's next? Kitty braces?
Ask your vet about microchipping. ~ It could have saved Kuhio's life.

Hello All and thank you for your replies. I will let everyone know what the doc says. I would love to hear from all of you about your furry babies. I am a huge cat lover and have had up to 17 cats at one time. ALL in the house, all fixed and shots and all SPOILED rotten. We had 3 huge plastic tubs for litter boxes and they got scooped twice a day and scrubbed clean 1 time a week. We built them an outdoor kitty cage so they could have a taste of outside without actually going out by themselves. They could climb out the window into a big kitty house, then from there, they jumped down into a 4 foot by 14 foot fenced in cage. They were in kitty heaven. We also lined our livingroom walls with cat walks so they could feel superior to us humans... LOL
Anyway, that was with ex husband and many years ago. I got rid of the husband but always kept my love of cats.
Anyway, everyone please tell me about your babies and as soon as I can find the pictures I will send some of the cage and my sweet babies.
Give all your babies some wuvins from me!!!

    update on kitty overbite

    Hi All,
Im sorry I haven't been to the boards lately. Lots has happened here. Vet said that Snowball needs to grow some more before we take any action on the overbite. More than likely we can just pull the bottom canines and he will be fine. In the last few weeks, I have been depressed and stressed. My mother in law came to live with us a few months ago after a stroke. She is a severe diabetic with heart problems and the stroke left her virtually blind. So I have had to change my whole life to care for her. My husband didn't lift a finger to help me help her. She is a very negative person and she hated our cats. Anyway to make a long story short. I finally had a LONG talk with my husband and my mother in law is now living with her sister who is better equipped to take care of her. What is it with men and their moms???
Anywayz, Im glad to have my house and kitties back to myself. I hope to post more often now. I hope you all are having a wonderful day and give your "babies" lots of lovins from me.
    Your cat lovin friend,
    Linda

Glad your back and hopefully Snowball is doing better.

My boss's cat has an overbite but it's his lower jaw that juts out a little. It gives him character.
