    Sunny Has Bad Teeth

Hi everyone. I took Sunny to the vet today for an annual check up and his 3 year rabies and FVRCP shots. The vet said that he's very healthy except for his teeth. He has very bad gingivitis and one of his teeth looks like it's dying. She said that since he's part Aby that he's predisposed to having bad teeth which I already knew and that he should probably have a cleaning every year.

They're running a teeth cleaning special until the end of the month so I lucked out there. I'm also concerned about Sky's teeth so both he and Sunny will be going for a cleaning this coming Saturday. I sure hope that they won't need any extractions. There's also a new dental product that just came out that they can put on their teeth to help seal each tooth and I can also apply this to them at home. I forgot the name of it though. Please wish them well. Thanks.

Oh I do wish them both well and hope no teeth need pulling, I am in the same boat here with Ash, he needs to have a general and have his plague removed, I am hoping no teeth need taking out as well, he has one that is a bit suspect, will your kitty's have generals as well?, Ash is getting on in years so it is to be expected really, but I hate having to put him through it all, but better than bad rotting teeth and other serious health problems.

I will be thinking of your two kitties and hoping all goes well, and they will have shiny bright teeth afterwards, let me know about that sealer stuff, have not heard of it here, but will mention it to my vet, and see if she knows anything, very interested in that product.

My mother's cat has lived on biscuits all her life, is one year older than Ash, and only has a teeth clean without a general once yearly and her teeth are purrfect, I am hoping this happens with Lexie as she is a biscuit eater only as well, just thought it worth a mention.

When I read the subject of this thread I thought: Of course! The Aby!

So I keep my fingers crossed for Sunny and Sky and hope there is no need for an extraction. This is something both of mine didn't need up to now although they need regular tooth cleanings.

I fed them a lot of dry food in the past because of the teeth but now Tigris cannot eat any dry food for his chronical UTD and Filou cannot because of the rice

    Good luck Sunny and Sky!

I've never had a problem with bad teeth in cats, but CJ may be changing that, so I'm starting to pay much closer attention to teeth issues these days.

I hope Sunny and Sky will come back from the vet without any teeth pulled, but with a pearly white smile. Will keep my fingers crossed.

On thursday, Fister is going to the vet for a vaccination, and also to have his teeth checked. As you can see below, he had two pulled some years ago and one of the top ones had already broken when we got him. I think it may have happened when he was trapped in the cage, when he went to be neautered, he went completely wild.

Good luck to both Sunny and Sky that their dental work is uneventful. I know how expensive kitty teeth cleaning is and am glad you're able to get a deal on it, although I'm sure it's still expen$ive!

The vet said Mishi's teeth were good at his annual a couple of weeks ago - one less thing to worry about! Keep us posted!

Randi Great dental pic of Filou!

    Trac,

Aby's have a hard time with their teeth, I bet that's why Sunny's are so bad.

    Hope the cleaning goes well.
