The Most Amazing Thing Happened Today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OH MY GOSH!! I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER RIGHT NOW AND YOU ALL ARE THE FIRST PEOPLE I HAD TO TELL. As some of you know, the day after christamas, we went to visit my grandparents for a couple hours and since the dogs had been inside all day we decided to leave them in the yard while we were gone. When we got home the previously locked gate was WIDE open. I had seriously given up any hope of finding them because that was the end of December and it is already February!! We put posters up everywhere and no one ever called. Also, both dogs had ID tags. Well today we get a call from a lady who says that she fould a black lab dog a couple weeks ago and has been keeping it at her house because it had no collar or tags on it. My heart sunk just as fast as it skipped a beat because Chico did have a collar and an ID tag. So I told her that I don't think he was mine. She said that she saw a poster at Petsmart and it looks exactly like him, minus the collar and ID tag. So my mom and I drove the 20 minutes to see her, and I started bawling when she answered the door (oh my gosh, i am crying right now!!)...there was Chico wagging his whole entire body. It was him, and he is back now!! To make sure it was him I looked at his chest, because he has the tiniest patch of white hair, did all his commands. Oh my god, i am extrememly happy. I just dont understand how his collar was missing. When we offered her the reward money, she said that she wouldn't dream of taking it. Right before we left, she said that she had seen the other dog from the poster too. DUh!!! I was so excited and crying about Chico, I completely forgot about Omar. IT turns out that when she saw Chico, she also saw Omar (that made me happy that they "stuck together"). She said that he looked mean (a lot of people say that but he is a sweetie) so she had called the Animal Control. When they got there, she told them that she would take in Chico until an owner was found. Well Omar didn't have his collar and tag on either (???) so they took him to a shelter where they wait a certain amount of time and then I guess they put strays up for adoption. Since it was only a couple weeks ago, we had hopes he was still there. So she told us the name of the shelter he had been taken to and OH MY GOD..he was still there. We had papers to prove he was our dog, so we got to take him home today!!!! I just cannot believe that this all happened in one day, especially getting both dogs back!!! THey both smelled really bad so we bathed them both and now they are fast asleep on their dog beds. I am so unbelieveably happy. I just want to thank everyone for being so supportive and hopeful, even when I wasn't. I truely belive that PT prayers work. Thanks soooooooo much!!!!!!

Wow, what a true miracle. I have tears of joy in my eyes for you and Chico and Omar. I cannot imagine the intense joy that must be in your heart now. Thank God they are back home where they belong, with you.

It does almost sound like someone set them loose and took their collars . Will you be able to keep them inside when you have to go out again? I know I'd be worried sick to leave them out again for fear of it happening again.

Again, I am so very happy for you and the pups. This is wonderful wonderful news!

Yes, we will absolutely be keeping them inside now when we leave. They are not outdoor dogs, but they had been cooped up in the house all day long, we thought they would enjoy running around in the yard for a couple hours. Well, now they will only be out when we are home. They are both snoring away, they must be exhausted from being outdoors for so long. I am just so happy to be with them again. Thanks for your kind words

OMG!!! Oh, I can't believe it, a miracle! Not only Chico home safe and sound, but Omar too! Tears are pouring down my face...and I'm at the library! Oh, I am SO happy for you all! You must be walking on air! I'm sure it will be a long time before you let them leave your sight! Even with a 6 ft. high stockade fence and locked gates, I am so fearful of leaving the girls out when I leave. You just never know what can happen! I think there was an evil hand in all this Stay safe Omar and Chico and WELCOME HOME!

Great news! You must be so happy, that is truly a miracle.

I don't know if it would have helped or not but I am an advocate of microchipping.

Wow! What wonderful news! I am so happy, and I feel extremely bad, because I didn't know they were missing. That's probably because I was really busy and hadn't been on here for a few months, but I am still extremely happy for you and Chico and Omar! Spoil them good! I'll bet they missed you terribly!

-thank you Poppy for the avatar.
