A Serval (very hard to take a picture of, s you can see!)

    Deer and baby

And finally, my favourite creature (after the big cats).

    Meerkats

One of the sweeties was stationed by the opening that leads to the outside enclosure.

    That's all!

I enjoyed the virtual trip to the zoo Chris, looks like it was a pretty day. I haven't gone to the zoo in a couple years, will have to take a day and go to the one in Minneapolis sometime

OMG just look at this little sweetie!!! I've never heard of a Meerkat before.

Great pictures Chris. Thanks for the tour.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

    Thanks puppyluvs!

Jess, glad you enjoyed! Dannielle (my grandaughter) and I love the zoo and try to go each year. My son usually drops us off and picks us up, (and pays too, bless him!)

Thanks slick! Those Meerkats really are the sweetest creatures, glad you like them too.

It's Chester Zoo here in UK. A great zoo to visit if you ever get to cross the pond!

animal rescue, Oh, yes, I forgot Timon was a Meerkat!

Here is a little bit about them, if anyone is interested.
    Meerkat (Suricata suricata)
The scientific name 'suricata' means slender-tailed. Meerkat comes from the Afrikaans for 'lake cat': although they live in dry places they are fond of water. Meerkats live in underground burrows in desert areas in southern Africa. Mobs or gangs of Meerkats can have up to 40 members and are highly social and communicative. Each individual has an important role such as sentry duty or babysitting. Males and females look alike but each Meerkat has unique black and tan markings on their back. Females give birth to 2-5 kittens after an eleven week pregnancy. Typical diet consists of worms, beetles, crickets, eggs, fruit and scorpions to whose venom Meerkats are immune. Dark bands around their eyes help to reduce any glare from the sun. Both in zoos and in the wild Meerkats have been known to live for 10 to 15 years.

Those are great pictures. Although, the fence around the zebra enclosure looks a little short, don't you think? Cute photos!

My mom says that the zoo in Minneapolis is really nice. I don't exactly remember going though.
