    Looking for guinea pig help!

I want to know if anyone, who knows about breeding guinea pig information. I don't want to breed mine, but I have a 2 month of piggie and I'm starting to think she's pregnant. Before I got her, she was in a small cage with a male and another female... can someone give me an answer about it? She's getting chubby, even though I have been letting her run around outside of her cage!

Ok, I found one link that may be helpful. I would maybe try calling a vet that knows something about guinea pigs.

thank you guys so much! I looked on both sites and found great info! Well, Peaches is the one I think that's pregnant. As for the tiels, there great! Today when my friend walked be he wistled that sexy wistle at her! Oh my gosh, we were laughing so hard!
But the female still won't let me near her and we'll be taking them to get there wings clipped soon. Oh and I was holding Oran as well earlier it didn't go well though, because my sister thought he was nice and she tried to pet him. He flew off and freaked out! He ended up in the sink, I felt so bad.

oh and I didn't mention it but if she's pregnant her brother is the dad! I definetly don't think Squishy's the dad because he doesn't even know that I have females! I keep them apart at all times!

inbreeding piggies wont cause any problems dont worry lol if you need any help just ask, only 2 out of my 11 piggies were not born in this house lol and the reason I say inbreeding wont be a problem, well Missy and Friskit are the parents of the other 9 piggies, Friskit is Missy's son. for the most part when they are giving birth leave them alone lol the mothers hate sbeing disturbed while giving birth, and dispite what many sites will tell you, their is NOT a huge risk in a piggies giving birth, they are just trying to discourage people from breeding. there is some truth in that, but only if the piggie is older, like a year old, because by then their bones will be hardened and they will often run into birthing problems, younger piggie moms are best because their bones are soft, so a problem with the babys commin out is very very rare. one thing you should so is have a special "nursing cage" set up for her, one that will be completly safe for the littles ones because the chance that you will be their when she gives birth is very very tiny, and they will be off exploring right away and little babys can get themselves into trouble lol

If you really really think Peaches is prenant, put her on alfalfa hay so she gets the calcium she needs. Just make sure the other piggies don't get too much of it because alfalfa has way to much calcium for piggies who don't have a reason to need it. Keep her on alfalfa until she is done nursing.

I'm glad to hear the tiels are doing good!

Ditto to the alfalfa hay I feed my pigs Oxbow products. They make a great feed for pregnant and nursing piggies. You can order all their products, including their hay, on line. Here's a link to the feed for pregnant piggies, "Cavy Performance."

so far all I found was bad stuff!
umm all female pregnant guinea pigs that
are bred have a 20% chance of dieing, I've
read a lot of horror stories and I hope the
turn-out doesn't end up on what I read!
What I really need to know is: is it ok if I leave
her sister in with her during the birth? Because
right now if I seperate them they freak and wheek
and I'm not sure if that would be good or not?

I'm sure everything will go fine! Since she is under a year old, there are less complications with the delivery unless the babies are very big! Is she a very tiny guinea pig?

I was thinking about having her sister in with her, too. Maybe you could some how divide the cage? What type of cage do you have? With a C&C cage you could divide it down the center so they could still see and feel each other, but her sister wouldn't come in contact with the babies.
