Hi Everyone,
It's been a long time since I've written. My only excuse is that life has a way of taking over sometimes. Anyhow...
I previously wrote about a feral cat, Yoda, that I rescued. She had an ear polyp that was removed but she was still very sick and I took her to a specialist who thought that more invasive surgery might be the only solution. But, to his credit, he tried an alternative and it seems to be working. The polyp could not be removed entirely without going through Yoda's jawbone and, because she was so frail and ill, we both were concerned that she wouldn't survive the surgery. But he treated her w/steroidal ear drops and also treated her for various bacteria and a host of other things. Long story short: she's coming along beautifully. She's gained weight, runs from one end of the house to the other, interacts w/my other 6 cats (in other words, bugs the hell outa them) and she's as pleasant as can be. There's nothing in the house that she's afraid to climb and I've got the broken mantel statues, etc. to prove it. But I'll trade a statue for a healthy Yoda any day.
So, friends, thanks for your feedback and again, I apologize for taking so long to post again. In the meantime, 2 more feral cats, babies themselves, gave birth on my porch on the same day and I have 7 little kittens now. The first mom was spayed yesterday; the second will be spayed when the other one comes home from the vet and is checked. And the kittens, will be spayed and neutered as well, as soon as they're old enough. A local rescue group was willing to take all 7 of them and place them for adoption. I was considering it until I was told that they spay/neuter at 8 weeks old. I spoke w/3 vets, one of whom was the one who helped Yoda, and they all agree that 8 weeks is too young! So, when the time comes, I'll take care of it. It may be more difficult to place them by then but I'll keep at it. I'm getting the population under control and taking care of business.
I hope this finds all your fur family healthy.....
Blessings,
M
