Lucy may need to find another home. :(

we are going to move a far distance away in a couple of months and i cannot take my cockateil with me because we are prolly going to move into an apartment and birds aren't the best companion to have in an apartment.
i don't want to just give him to anyone. i want to make sure he's well taken care of and can get out of his cage as often as possible.
so how would i find this PERFECT home for him? i have planty of time to find one. nobody i know can take him and there is no bird rescue close to me.

    any advice???or anyone intrested???

Lute! I live in Michigan City and ever since Mesha died I have been looking for another bird! I know my mom would be ok with it if I talk to her. Just message me if you like the idea....

What makes you feel birds aren't good for an apartment? I got my tiel Dawn while I was still in an apartment 5 years ago and it was no different there than in the house now. The only thing I can think of is a possible noise issue but tiels are one of the quietest birds I've been around and I've seen/heard of many people keeping birds in apartments.

I don't know what your situation is exactly but I wish you and Lucy the best.

K9soul, it is a noise issue....he can be loud at times and LOVES to "talk" to you at about 5-6 in the morning every once in a while. plus a drive to Nashville from Terre Haute is a long way for him. i wanted to bring him along but my parents are over ruleing me.

I see, well, there's not much you can do when parents have made their decision. Hope that Lucy finds a wonderful new home and maybe you can even keep in touch with him.

Birds usually do well in long drives. That is no reason to leave a pet behind.

As to the noise factor, people who live in apartments usually get birds because they normally can't have other pets. Most cockatiels aren't loud enough to disturb neighbors. Do you cover your bird at night? My birds don't start talking until I take their cover off in the morning, and even then, they're not loud enough to be disturbing.

I hope your parents would change their mind, but if not, I wish Lucy the best of luck in finding the perfect home.

    popcornbird,
i do put a blanket over his cage at night. he still sings though. i would have thought a long drive would be stressful on an old bird like him(17). IF,and that's a big if, i do end up taking him or his new home is a distance away how should i transport him?
