Every once in awhile, I read something that makes me think
some peolple should never be allowed to have children.

Woman Convicted In Drug Death Of Infant Son
Tenn. Mother Tells Police She Rolled Baby's Pacifier In Crushed OxyContin Pills

    POSTED: 6:25 p.m. EST January 9, 2004
    UPDATED: 6:29 p.m. EST January 9, 2004

NEWPORT, Tenn. -- A jury in Tennessee has convicted a woman of killing her 4-month-old son by giving him a pacifier she had rolled in crushed OxyContin pills.

The narcotic is prescribed for time-released pain relief. But drug abusers can get a heroin-like high by crushing the pills before taking them.

Debra Elaine Kirk Moore told police that's what she and her husband did before lying down with the baby one night in 2002. When the boy wouldn't sleep, she stuck his wet pacifier in the pill dust and put it back in the baby's mouth.

The baby wasn't breathing when they awoke the next morning. The infant died two days later.

Moore was convicted of criminally negligent homicide and aggravated child abuse. She faces a maximum of 27 years in prison when she's sentenced next month.

It takes a license to fish...but any a-hole can be a parent.

You're right. He never stood a chance.

This is such a sad story. Poor little baby. I hope and pray that he didn't suffer in any way. What an idiot of a mother.

I hope she gets the maximum 27 years ++. and not get a liter sentence like a lot do, saying they where not in their right mind at the time.

I knew a case once where a man put his child in a running dryer and only got 3 years because he was on med's. and not in his right mind, so they said.

These things make me sick. I would like to see her get the maximum but it probably won't happen. What I would love to see is mandatory sterilization for these people so that they can't ever have the opportunity to do it again.

Just want to correct that any a-hole can give birth, but just because you give birth doesn't make you a parent. I have to say there is a difference in giving birth and being a parent.
The thing that I am always asking myself is why people like that can have children, and then there are people out there that wants a child so bad and can't have a child. I am not being disagreeable, it just pains me to see people bring children into this world and then think only of themselves.

This little baby did not ask to be brought into this world, if you intend to bring a child into the world then for Gods sake, take care of that child.

She should get prison, she is an a-hole and that is putting it a bit too lightly! She should be put away just for being that darn ignorant, and stupid!

Sadly, she was the boy's parent. just a bad one. (It's a quote from the film "Parenthood" one of my favs).

Hopefully somewhere in her punishment will come some counselling too.

Unfortunately, they could sue and win because it would infringe on their Civil Rights.

I'm sorry for the baby, I hate it when people do things to the innocents who have no say. I wonder what her excuse will be for choosing that method of getting the child to be quiet.

Cases like this just break my heart. That poor baby was
probably just wet, or cold, or hungry and the parents couldn't
be bothered. My heart just aches for every child whose parent
is so self comsumed that they can't be bothered, or don't care.

A female animal in the woods will go without food herself & even
give her life to protect & nurture her babies, yet animals are
    considered a lower species.

Maybe after 27 years away to think about what she's done,
she will realize the enormity of her crime. It's just so sad.

Whats sad is the kid was probibly drug addicted when it was born...then on top of it all you've got stupid parents who only think of themselves with a special needs child...this is not a good combo at all. Why are the children that need the most care born to the biggest frikken morons?
I know pleanty of people who would have loved and cared for that child no matter what...there is a couple my mom works with that fosters special needs kids like drug addicted babies and ones that have brain damage cause of what thier mother did when they were unborn and it's sad really how many of these poor kids remain unwanted in state hospitals....
It isnt their fault for being alive...and parents shouldn't take their existence out on them
    It makes me cringe....
