    What?

What do you mean don't get mad and hit her? That doesn't sound like a barrel racing tip to me. Do you mean don't get aggressive and hit a barrel because we could hurt our pets? I'm all confused!

    I don't have any barrel racing tips b/c I don't race barrels.
I wouldn't advise you run into the barrels, but if you do I am sure it would be an accident and not on purpose.
I am refering to the 'trouble' you started in this thread

    http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthre...threadid=37203

then you run over here and expect us to be excited you are getting a horse??

I think it was Jordan that brought up, why you would call attention to yourself when you knew you would get 'smoked', when you knew you were wrong.
So I am calling you on this thread.
I hope you take THAT into advisement

What is that supposed to mean?

What's wrong with you? I wasn't doing anything wrong but asking a simple question. I was going to get a horse so I just wanted to know if anybody had any tips on barrel racing. I didn't want anybody to get exited over it. Also, I do not drawl attention. Karen said to just start a new thread and be happy. So that is what I am going to do. I am going to post threads and be happy. If you want to drag on this all of your life then do it, because me and Hallie are still as close as we ever were. Around here, where I live, a slap on the head aint nothing in our town. You are putting up a bad name for Pet Talk. People are supposed to be understanding and kind here. Not selfish and untrustworthy. I didn't know that there were people like this in Pet Talk. I think that I am going to leave. I came here to get get away from people like talk like you do. That's why I am homeschooled is because of kids constantly breathing up my throat about the past. I will not stand around to listen to you run your mouth about me. I am sorry if this offended you, but you dang sure offended me. It was nice while it lasted. I hope that you take THIS as an advisement.

Congratulations! I don't know much about horses, so I can't offer any advice, but I sure can't wait to hear all about it when you get your horsey!

Staci, I agree with you. Petlover, It appears that you *might* have a slight anger problem, and if you take out your anger on your horse, that can be disastrous. Example: my great grandpa had a MAJOR temper issue and he constantly beat his plow horse. The horse got sick of his abuse and kicked him in the stomach...bye bye great grandpa!!!! You may not think you never will now, but things change down the road. Then again, you might not, I am just making a general statement. This happens to a lot of horse owners....

    Tips:

    * Do not over steer the horse.
    * Do not use too many commands while the horse is going around the barrel.
    * Do not whip the horse with the reins, this should never be done period. Reins are not for whipping.

~ If you find an excellent trainer to train your horse, your horse will become well schooled and it will practically do just about everything its self, and all you have to do is sit on top and look pretty. Of course, you might have to do a few things, but for the majority the horse will do it. Especially if the horse finds barrel racing thrilling and it puts its heart into it.

Hang on a minute she never said that shes been hitting her horse, she hasnt even got it yet!!!
we all have a temper at some piont and im sure that its come out one time or another, it just may not have resulted in hitting!!
Petlover said it was a one off mistake which just happened!!! and she addmitted it which allot of people wouldnt admitt to!!!
if she was allways beating her animals why would she even mention it??
give her a break and forget it!!!

We dont have barrel racing over here but it sure looks fun!!!
    Good luck and dont leave!!!

    Hi

Hello yellow lab lover. I have been barrel racing for a long time with my coach. I have never had a real barrel horse of my own is all. I have been using my coaches horses. Of course she taught me never whap the horse with the reighns while doing the pattern. We usually do not have to give them commands when they are running the pattern since they were raised from a baby doing it and know what to do. At the end you usually have to say Whoa!!!! But, I think that everyone says that. I have ran really bad times at playdays and rodeos, and I never get mad at my horse. I feel that she tried her best, she was just having an off day. I have a lot of off days. People don't get mad at me so why should I get mad at her? I usually give her a kiss on the cheek fter every run. Just as a thank you for running the pattern. Also, Rio and Me, I am not going to leave. I decided not to. I am glad that you were curious enough to ask though. Well, I have to go groom Hallie, she is sitting here on her grooming table waiting. I'll get back on afterwards. Bye Guys!!!!!

Aww, that's good! I am glad you enjoy it. When something doesn't go right with me, I generally tend to brush it off too, and not get mad that the horse...it is not entirely their fault 99% of the time it is the rider giving the wrong cues. Even if Jack and Spirit don't listen, I still shower them with treats and love too.

I am really disappointed to see this thread starting to get narky, I thought the last one was handled very well, ok so she knew she was going to get racked over the knuckles about hitting her dog, maybe she wanted that, as she felt so darned guilty, and to offer her advice and support, which is what she got mostly, was the sensible thing to do, instead of getting all riled up about it.

Staci being sarcastic, about her joy in getting a horse, is rather immature in my opinion, remember Karen's advise earlier BE NICE, besides petlover is only 13 years old,now another young member is thinking of leaving and is upset, this is not what pet talk is meant to be about, you and I have not alway's seen eye to eye on matters, so I guess I shall respect your opinion and leave it at that.

I think you have learned your lesson here, and know what you did was a mistake, and now you will continue to treat Hallie with the respect she deserves, and for me that is what is really important here, and the best news to my ears.

Congratulations on your new horse, do you have a name picked out for it yet? and barrel racing sounds fun, you will need to practice heaps and get good at it, good luck.

WHAT THE? Why are you being mean TO HER? OMG! you should just calm down. She made a mistake in the past with Hallie, but that doesnt mean she is going to go hit her new horse. you really disgust me with your post.. and im not calling names nor pointing fingers. Geez, PetLover, I am so sorry for all the rude comments people have been putting on you. I hope you stay with PT and ignore the other people. anyways, CONGRATS on the new horse! I have no info on them though. Welcome to PT!

P.S. Im 13 years old Too!

    Freeway

Hey guys, her name is Freeway. It's a cute, but odd name. She is a female AQHA ( American Quarter Horse Assosiation) registered barrel/pole horse. So as you can see, she is a quarter horse. Her registered name is Em's Freeway. She is a really pretty red sorrel color, with a large blaze on her face. I might be able to attach a photo, but I am not sure. Lets see....

Yep, there they are. There are 3 of them. The first one is of Freeway standing without a saddle on. The second one is of her standing with a saddle on and it is showing the beautiful markings on her face. The third one is of her turning the first barrel with the lady that I am buying her from's daughter riding her.
