    Over My DEAD BODY!!!!!!

A few nights ago, a lady came to look at the last few available kittens. Well she showed up with SIX (not one or two) but SIX kids of about 10 years of age!!!!! I thought I would faint when I opened my door! She had brought half her neighborhood to see my kittens. They immediately barged into my living room and crowded around Lacie's (scared feral mom) box and her kittens! I about lost it! I immediately said " Hold on a minute, every back away from the box.... this is a scared momma cat!"

Anyway, they about pushed me to the limit! I was very cool, blunt and ready for them to leave my home!!!! To top it off, one of the little brats (sorry) said. "I wish there was such a thing as 'rent a kitten'.... then when they got big and weren't fun anymore you could take them back"!!!
I said "well, that's the problem .... kittens ARE cats .... and you have to LOVE CATS!" It was all I could do at that point not to blast them all out of my house!!! I was fit to be tied and fuming mad for over an hour after they left!!!
The stupid "woman" didn't even speak up to correct the child.... ignorant parents / ignorant kids!

    OMG!!!!

Don't be sorry, that kid WAS a brat.

I'd of lost my temper and asked them all to leave. And what was that woman thinking having all those kids with her.

    How rude.

It sounds like you could write a book on what not to do when thinking of adopting a kitten.
Rule # 1 Do not say you will Declaw the cat!(I saw your other thread)
Rule # 2 Don't bring all the kids in the neighborhood with you to view the kittens!

I think they were very rude! Is this a neighbor or someone you talked to on the phone first? In the future you should tell them only a couple of people allowed in at a time so the momcat and kittens don't get scared. I would have made all but two of them wait outside!
    RIP sweet Samantha

Although traumatic for you all perhaps it was best to find out NOW before they adopted a kitten.

Whoa!!!! That kid actually said that??? What the heck kind of parent taught him/her that??? That is terrible!! And what a RUDE woman to feel it was OK to bring her entire neighborhood to your home!!!!

Could you imagine that if you allowed her to have one of these little angels what a screwed up life it would have? Poor baby!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! I would have been really mad as well!

Hey Kim....you are a GREAT foster kitty meowmie!!!

OMG! What a brat that kid is
Obviously the kid only likes kittens, and when the kitten grows up, what will happen to it?
That is so rude! What a rude woman

    Kim,

You have the patience of a saint, girl! I would've lost it the minute I opened the door.

As for that smart mouth brat, my comment would've been "Your parents should've used Rent-A-Kid so that when you got this age they could turn you in for a newer, respectful kid! That would've shut him up.

You know my saying about stupid people so I need not repeat myself.

I hope mama and kitties weren't too traumatized.

Well, if I expressed my opinion of kids I'd be getting a whole lot of bad PM's so I'll keep my mouth shut. Bad attitudes like that start at the top and has obviously been learned from the parents. Adults can bring out the worst in children just as they do in animals.
No point in stressing out over it. They are plenty more of those kinds of people in the world. I feel sorry for any pet those people choose to adopt. You and the other PTer's that foster do such good work. My hat is off to you.

I, too, hope that momma and babies are OK.

    LOL LOL Good one!

I can't believe the rudeness of that woman and that bratty kid! Ugh!! That is why we have the problem that we do today, because people like that kid get an animal when it's small and cute, but once it grows up...it's either banished to the outdoors or dumped. Honestly...people need to have a license and get tested before they should have kids or pets!

I have always said that people should have to take a test before they breed. But I didn't want to offend anyone...*L*

    What horrible brats.

Just like animals, it takes MUCH more effort to discipline children and bring them up well - it is much easier to just let them run wild.

I have friends from my college days, and sadly my hubby and I will not invite them over any more, as their kids run wild and I end up mad! Similarly there are a couple of neighbours kids who I have banned from my house because I caught them teasing my furkid!

Well done Kim, at least you found out SOONER rather than LATER what they were like!

Carry one doing the wonderful job you are doing - I really admire you!

Thank you all soooooo much! My hubby had gone to run an errand before that woman and her kids showed up. As soon as he got out of his truck, I was waiting in the driveway fuming mad! LOL.... I know by the look on my face he was terrified to ask "what's wrong".... but being the sweetheart that he is, he DID.... and buddy, I TOLD HIM!!!

    I love you JERRY!!!!

WOW!! I usually don't let my neighbors know when I have kittens until they are weanlings (>4 weeks old). I am fortunate that my neighbors are good parents and their kids are growing up to be civilized human beings. Poor mama cat and Jen!
