After sleeping about 4 hours last night, due to thunderstorm alerts on the radio, I got up somewhat groggy this morning. I fed my menagerie, and visited a few www sites. Then, I went to our local shelter for my bi-weekly visit. They have had a 3 month old black male kitty there who does all sorts of antics while in his cage in order to get me to take him out of the place. He has been in there for almost a month. I do not know why, but after entering the place I immediately went to his cage. He began his usual stuff, clawing at me through the bars, meowing. rubbing up against the cage doors and the like, and being extremely vocal when ever I walked away from him. I opened the cage door and took him out. He wanted out of there so bad, that it seemed he would almost do anything to get my attention. I had never received as many kitty kisses, hugs and lovables as I experienced with this kitten. The last furkid that I took in after doing the same sort of antics was Puma. Laurie, the keeper said to me, "Are you going to take the little black kitty?". Of course, I couldn't resist any longer. So, now I have "Midnight" as part of my menagerie. Laurie also said that he was half-price. I asked, "is this because he has been here so long?" She replied, "No, but because June is Adopt-a-Cat month"- which was news to me. Right now they have an abundance of black and tuxedo kittens for adoption.
His antics when exploring this place reminded me of a racoon. Also, upon meeting the rest of my extended family, he began to hiss and growl and play attack like a badger at all of them. Of course, they were all afraid of him, including Otis. Then he would attack their tails, and without giving enough time for the atackee to respond, Midnight would , with extreme quickness, scamper off in a typical kitten playful lilt. This went on for about 2 hours -what a comedy show! Now that everything has calmed down, the others do not bother him much! I think he wore every cat out, because this place is abnormally quiet for this time of day. I guess he knows what he is doing when it comes to introducing himself![]()
Midnight has a little white patch on his throat, but is otherwise all black. What a clown of a cat, and what I particularly like about him is his affectionate (sloppy) kitty kisses.
