    Poem

In English Class we had to do a poem. I wrote mine about Lady. Do you like it?

I love my little doggy, though some memories are foggy.
Our Sunday walks are always great.
She stuck her head up oh so proud, she bounced like she was on a cloud.
    I can't believe she's turning eight.
For vet appointments, we were late.
We would play while we wait.

They compliment on her fine fur, it makes them smile to look at her.
My gorgeus German Shepherd, Lady is her name.
We play together, always training, even when it's really raining.
"Fetch the squeaky football" is her favorite game.
No one ever said she was lame.
    She is so incredibly tame.

We jog and run all the time, I love to see her brown eyes shine.
Together we have so much fun.
We must enjoy our time together, for it will not last forever.
She is always wanting to run.
Yet she is as quiet as a nun.
    Lady is my little hun.

    I don't think it's very good though.

Thanks! I disagree with the way I wrote it, like how eight and great were separated by one sentence, but we had to follow a few guidelines(how many syllables in a sentence, where to put the rhymes, etc..) I wish I could do it my own way, I would have made so many great changes.
All in all, I did try my best, and I guess what really matters is that the theme is well put and easy to understand.
~My theme was loving and sharing memories with a pet, or something like that.

It's hard to believe that there are "rules" for Poetry, but
there are in a school setting. Guess you have to go by their
guidelines. I don't think that every poem has to rhyme. You
did your best, & that's what counts. Lady is a very good subject
for you poems or prose. Good job.

I agree with you, Liz! I always hated it when we were told exactly how to write or draw something...especially art class. They totally wouldn't let you have artistic license or anything. But that's off the subject.

Britt, I love your poem. It's beautiful, and it shows how much you love Lady.
