    Happy Birthday to Dr. Seuss!

Today is the 108th anniversary of the birth of Theodor Seuss Geisel. Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

Which of his books are your favorites? Mine are...
    Fox in Socks
    Green Eggs and Ham
The Cat in the Hat (of course)
    Oh, The Places You'll Go

I could not possibly choose a favorite, I loved them all. Every trip to a library started with seeing which Dr. Seuss books were on the shelf!

Which would be why the boy came in wearing a cat in the hat hat.

Both of the kids have had Seuss around since they were babies.

    birthday! A birthday?
    I have to say.
    one oh eight
    are a bunch of days.

How many kids to them, he has talked?
I trust him more, than that Dr Spock.
Spock wrote the handbook to raise the small fry
but to entertain them? He might not try.

One Fish Two Fish, the turtle name Myrtle?
If Horton missed the Who? Chocolate milk would sure curdle!

Green Eggs and Ham, a culinary treat?
Only the Doc, could make it sound sweet.
The Cat in the Hat, is the best book feline.
Puss in Boots, second place in that line.

    Happy Birthday kind sir,
    History does has a place
for your wit and a shelf
    with plenty of space

For all of the tales you shared with the masses
but there is one thing, you will not get a pass with.
One thing I do know, I just have to ask..

Just what the h#ll is that mustached Lorax?

Same here. My kids loved them all. These books made going to the library a exciting event for them.
They also liked The Berenstain Bears books. https://www.berenstainbears.com/

I credit these early books for their love of reading generally.

There's no question about it, my all time favorite is Fox In Sox. It still makes me laugh!

Second favorite is Green Eggs and Ham. One morning when Mike was 5 or 6 I made green eggs and ham for breakfast. He was quite taken with the idea. Sam I Am was impressed.

Oh dear! The Lorax, I never did shun.
My comments were made, in the vein of some fun.
I read of the Lorax, many years ago.
    But my memory is short,
    That I do know!

A refresher of the tale, seems to be in order?
When I get some money, I'll look towards Borders.
A copy in hand, sounds very good to me.
And then I'll remember how the Lorax came to be.

The library, dear boy, is the place to be
You'll find books bigs and small
    And can borrow for free!
And the children's room shelves may be down low
But there's no age limit for borrowing from them, you know

The Lorax, I bet, is there waiting for you
And you'll see many friends when you enter there, too!
