Sentenced To 24 Years, Out In 7

This hardly seems appropriate a for cold blooded murder.

He's "eligible for parole" in 7 years. That does not mean he will walk free, just that he will get a parole hearing. Even people like Sirhan Sirhan get parole hearings, but he is still in jail, probably for life.

It also seems that he admitted his part in the war crime and is testifying against the other five charged.

7 years to be eligible for parole is too short. A longer sentence and eligible for parole in 24 would be more appropriate.

24 years for killing 3 men - 8 years per victim.

"The plan was to kill people." What a cold-hearted creature.

It's a military Court-Martial, not a civilian court or a civilian parole board.

It's also a military jail cell.

He's not going to be out in 7. This is UCMJ, not civilian law.

I hope you're right about this because it would be a real disgrace if this man walked free after 7 yrs. I hate it when they call it life and it means a few yrs. Let the punishment fit the crime. War is bad enough without this kind of behaviour.

For those without family in the military, UCMJ is the Uniform Code of Military Justice, in some ways quite different than the laws and procedures to which civilians are accustomed.

I hope he gets medical and psychiatric help, and has gone through detox as well.

Detox is going to be the 24/7/365 monitoring while he is in jail.

Every minute of every day in a military penitentiary is scripted, and the prisoners have very, very different rights than prisoners in a civilian facility.
