    chewing toys on people

So this has been going on for about a month now, we have a 7 month old white german shepherd husky mix and he just loves playing with his toys. Only problem is he likes playing with his toys on people. For example, my spouce or I will be sitting on the couch watching TV and he will come up and place his toy on your arm/leg/lap/foot and continue to chew his toy. It has become very uncomfortable and slobbery as he will do it for as long as you let him. Its almost as if he is trying to share the dog toy with us.

What would be a good way to break this habit? (If you throw the toy away he thinks your just playing fetch and he brings it back.)
And also has anyone else had this behavior with their dogs? I've tried looking it up but no luck on the subject.

Yes, he is trying to get you to play with him.

You have to be gentle but firm. YOU initiate play, and YOU stop play times.

When you see him approaching, lean forward and turn your body so he is facing your shoulder. In other words, do a body block. DO NOT use your hands, as that is an indication you will play. You want to take up the space he is heading for. Do not make eye contact with him; turn your face away, and hold your head UP, snobby like.

A good book is The Other End of the Leash by Patricia McConnell. Here is a link:

I initially found it at my library; liked it so much I bought a copy from Amazon.com

Springen does this EXACT same thing. It can get quite annoying... and him being a Boxer he's very slobbery!

I just ignore him and he'll eventually go away. If not I will even get up and move to a different chair in the living room, after a couple times he gets the point.
