What a f-wad.
Kudos to the top cop for being candid and taking swift action.
I am glad to see that there was a camera and audio recording of the incident.
I have heard many stories and have been hassled by AH cops who do not have any kind of brains nor the ability to use common sense in such a situation.

What a jerk. Sounds like the cop was on a power trip. He probably
just earned the city a big lawsuit. The film ought to make great evidence.![]()

yeah, that cop took his job a little too seriously. There was a man who got pulled over in Memphis recently who had his dying mother IN THE CAR with him and was less than a mile from the ER. The man pleaded with the cop to give him the ticket after he got his mom to the hospital. No dice, cop just called ambulance. Driver got a ticket for expired tags and the woman died waiting for the ambulance.![]()
There are so many good cops around, it's a shame to have Dallas' "finest" pull a stunt like that.

I take issue with that statement.. I have known some officers personally, and have met others who were courteous and helpful. They are individual people with different traits just like any other person in society. It reminds me of the media and pitbulls. They seem to love reporting news of bad cops but you don't see all the good so many of them do.

I said Most & did not say All.. Yes I have met some very nice ones too.. I am also the daughter of a DPS officer = so I know & I have grew up with State Patrol Officers all my life.. Now if you will note this Dallas officer was a rookie young pup.. Those are the ones that you have to watch out for with their attitudes..

my BIL was a cop and a pretty good F-wad himself, so were most of his partners.
The job wears people out and makes them f-wads even if they are not.
------------
I remember one incident where I was getting a ticket for an expired plate.
The thing was expired by a week and I had the stub to the registration, copy of the check and my expred registration, Back then, you could mail your fees in and it took a few weeks to get into the system.
The AH still writes me up and gives me the "You bikers do something dumb and WE have to come clean up the mess....."
I laughed and told him -in so many words - that he was full of shiat and the paramedics come and would scrape me off the ground-he only did the paper work. Some are well versed at making mountains out of molehills, they get the bad press while the good cops toil in anonimity.![]()
It's unfortunate we'll never really see good stories published about the things some cops have done to help people and the ways some show compassion. I experienced it myself in college when I was with a date and his car started going on the fritz, we were speeding in hopes of reaching a gas station before it quit on us. A cop pulled us over for speeding and the car died there. The cop drove us to a station, waited with us till we got the part needed (a belt) and took us back to put it in. He never mentioned nor wrote us a ticket, and stayed until he saw the car was running and that we weren't stranded.
My ex-BIL was also a cop as well as some family friends. I suppose if you had said "many" rather than "most" I might not have felt the need to respond, and I suppose it's a matter of wording. I just dislike seeing people grouped up as a whole. Four cops just lost their lives last week doing their job to protect the public.
I do think this particular man was a heartless jerk and deserves more than just being shuffled to a desk job.

Actually, I wish my BIL was an Ex along with my sister, who is a pompous AH herself.
There are stupid, heartless people in all lines of work.
We had two SWAT cops who 'cowboyed' a building here in lost angeles. They went in without waiting for a plan or a clue. They both got shot and one was killed.
They did the 'hero' thing for him for a few months and never really came out and said that what he and his partner did was really dumb and not within the guidelines set up by the dept. The media didn't bother to report this and they carried on with the hero story.
It was a bad situation made worse by mistakes and not following the rules.
In many cases cops look for 'justice by cop' when some bad luck befalls them.
Another case that made the news was a cop who was killed by a wrong way driver on the 210 freeway. They closed the freeway for something like 6 hours to investigate the accident-all this happened during rush hour. Here in lost angeles we have enough BS traffic, they will clear a wreck in minutes to keep the flow going. If something happens to any PO, you can bet that time will stop and the investigation will turn heaven and earth to find out what happened.
We regular po' folk jus doan get none of tha justice!
Yes your so correct about not enough good stories of Cops doing a good job.. I also was so so saddened when I heard of the 4 Gents Officers that lost their lives to that killer.. SO Horrible... Now I will state if you watch the video real close you will see that the guy in the car started mouthing first without slowly explaining himself.. The Officer did state that if the Gent in the car just have been calm & explained himself then all of the mouthing would not have gotten so heated up..

I actually must say that in the process of going through a divorce, my BIL was the kindest of my ex's family and was the one person that didn't treat me like I had vaporized into thin air suddenly. That is OT but your comment made me think about it.
I do agree that jobs of authority can attract ruthless people sometimes. And sometimes I just think "regular" people get in them and then get jaded by all they have to deal with. I'm glad to have experienced dealing with those who were respectful and polite in the past.
