    Reggie getting neutered..possible other things

Ok this is scaring me. I'm pathetic, I know, lol. We are finally getting Reggie neutered. In case you don't now, Reggie is a 9 1/2 year old schnauzer. I've been telling my parents to have it done for years! They don't listen to me (they never do! They think I'm nuts with anything I say about dogs) I promise he has never fathered any puppies, but I still think he should have had this done a LONG time ago! I think he would be healthier, and less aggressive.

He might also be getting his teeth cleaned (yeah that should have been done a long time ago too, they are horrible! Nebo is NOT going to end up like Reggie and Smokey when he's old) and possibly his hernia (sp?) fixed. He's had that since he was a pup, it just looks like a big outie belly button lol. The vet told us a long time ago that it wouldn't be a problem with him, and it never has been, but who knows....

Of course that second paragraph only happens if my parents decide they can afford it. They may as well do it now, there's no reason to have him put out twice. There's no way I can pay for it.

I just hope he will be ok.....he's an old dog.....and I know there is a lot more risk involved with a senior dog....So if you want to say a prayer and wish him some good luck, we'd appreciate it. He's sleeping out of his kennel and on my bed tonight. Shh, don't tell!

    Thanks Anna

We dropped him off this morning. I felt so bad leaving him there...he was barking his head off when we left, he didn't know why we were leaving him. Plus we had my friends dog, Lady, with us getting her puppy shots...so we were leaving him and taking her with us. I felt so mean because the vet said not to give him any food or water either. I tried not to let Reggie see when I fed Smokey and Nebo. He's just getting neutered and his teeth cleaned, I'm going to go get him at 5:00.

I hope he's ok. Smokey was neutered at about 13 years old and he was fine.

Thanks everyone! I was kind of paranoid. My parents left, and just gave me some money and told me to pick him up. It would not have been fun if I would have had to deal with something bad by myself.

But he's ok, not really happy, lol, but ok. He's still a bit out of it, and walking stiff legged. He keeps trying to lift his leg to pee which I'm sure doesn't feel very good. He had to have some teeth removed, but he still was begging to eat. I have him on the same antibiotic that Nebo is on.

I'm sure in a few days he'll be feeling better. I know it's too late, but I hope this might at least curb a little bit of his aggressive problem.

Glad to hear everything went good with Reggie and his surgery. I can't believe he wants to eat after having some teeth removed. Poor puppy. Wishing him a fast healing. ***KISSES FOR REGGIE***

[B[I'm so relieved and happy to hear the good news! I'm sure he's ouching a little, but how great that he's ready to chow down! Are you sure he doesn't have some Lab in him?? Give the brave Reggie a big hug from all of us![/B]
