Whay Kind Of Tree To Plant

My neighborhood community group has recently partnered with the City's
Keep Indianapolis Beautiful Org. to plant some 50 trees around the area. They
asked me if I wanted one planted in my front yard and I agreed. The choices
are Hard Maple, Sweet Gum and Linden.I know nothing about types of trees, but told them I'd prefer a small to medium sized one.Anyone know trees?

    Trees?

    Hard or Sugar Maple >>>

    http://maple.dnr.cornell.edu/pubs/trees.htm

(Pretty sure the Binx & Smokey Memorial Trees are Sugar Maples.)

    --------------------------

    Sweetgum >>>

    --------------------------

    Linden or Basswood Tree >>>

    http://www.treehelp.com/trees/linden/index.asp
(Read the last paragraph about lawn fertilizers near this tree.)

I would choose anything but the sweet gum. They produce little prickly balls that fall all over and are a mess. My RB standard poodle, Whitney, used to love to chew on them and actually got one stuck in her cheek way in the back of her mouth. She stopped eating suddenly and when I took her to the vet for a good checking over he found it and said her cheek was beginning to get infected. I felt horrible that I never thought to look inside her mouth for the source of the problem. Anyway, I really got off the track with my answer!

Nope But if there were, I wouldn't have to swipe them from my
    neighbors.

I think I'll chose the Linden/Basswood tree. I'd like the pyramid shape. to
    a tree.

    That's amazing Richard!
I like your choice - very pretty tree, with a nice scent when it's blooming, too.

Nothing yet. The planting of the trees is scheduled for Oct. 21st, 2006.
They asked for people to be available to help out on that day.(show them
where you want it) They advised also that people would be out before
then to flag all under ground gas or water lines before digging.
