Trouble connecting to Outlook Express!!!

It's a Red Alert, Pet Talk,

I continuously receive an error message when I "try" to connect to "Outlook Express"

Error ox800ccoe

It worked, (connected) yesterday, and I received the usual "junk" mail , and deleted it.


No luck today.

Currently using Windows exp 2000.

any advice from Pet Talk Experts?( keep in mind that I am completely in the dark here, okay)

What do you mean? Do you have anti-virus software installed? What other applications are running?

those error messages aren't good.
i don't know much about outlook express, but
my old roommate said he had problems with it
and got a viris through it or something, so i've never used
it. do you have adaware? Have you deleted your temp. files?

yes, I have always deleted temporary files each time I go off line.

This happened about six months ago, my server explained the problem (company merged with another one) and files were being adjusted.

I just went into panic mode and of course , called out to Pet Talk.

I might have to re install outlook express, I don't know!!!

Yes, try re-installing it.
First, I'd install the adaware.

Here's a link for the adaware if you're interested. Scroll down to wear it says adaware personal, click and follow the directions.
Once it's downloaded and installed run it once a day and then boot the machine. Good luck! Let me know how it goes.

I'll figure it out, as there are more important things to worry about these days.

First get yourself some virus protection! McAfee and Norton have free online scanning services that will check your computer, but in this day and age surfing without virus protection and a firewall is just plain .... well, fill in the blank.

There are free anti-virus applications available too, so price is not an excuse.

Have you tried uninstalling Outlook Express using Windows add/remove software application under Control Panel? When you try to uninstall OE, Windows will offer to "repair" it. This can work sometimes if the virus hasn't deleted necessary system files.

Once you're back up and running, keep your virus software up to date and install, update and run AdAware or Spybot (both free) often. It's a jungle out here on the 'net. Surf safe, live long and prosper.

Having a computer without antivirus protection is crazy! AVG is another good, and free, antivirus program. Also, you need to download Spybot, seach and destroy. It finds things that Adware doesn't a lot of times. And for a browser, instead of Internet Explorer, try Firefox. It's great!

Definately get both an antivirus and spyware scanners into your system (as stated above) ... theres a lot of baddies out there that can play havoc with your computer and even with your internet connectivity

It is probably nothing to do with your computer itself. Check with your ISP to make sure they haven't blocked port 25. Most ISPs block port 25 because it is the most commonly used for sending spam.

It connected today!!!! I do receive" loads" of spam mail now!!! Anti spy ware is in order!!!!

I know that sooner or later I will have to get another computer, this one was left to me, when my son moved out!!!
