That's exactly what I was calling them .... LOL! I thought I was crazy, but that word just popped into my head from my childhood! Maybe it's a Tennessee thing!!!:D
I've heard them called that and I'm in Utah...

Their called cockelburrs in Minnesota, too.
I especially hate 'em when they get stuck in Prince's fur! :eek:

Also, I heard on Paul Harvey that the guy who invented VELCRO got the idea from cockleburrs after walking in the woods. :)

Out here in Nv we call em goatheads...and boy you know it when one gets stuck in your shoe!!! *ow ow ow* I hate it when the dog picks em up and you *try* carefully to get them out but the dang things wont come out without tugging and most of the time at least I end up with a stab wound in my fingers as a result!
And they are imposible to get off of blankets lol.
