Chihuahua shot by BB gun ~ In desperate need

Calling all Angels! FuMan Chew is an 8 yr old Chihuahua mix that was shot with a BB gun at close range today. The BB went through his chest and nicked his heart. He is part of a Military family and, as we all know, they don't made a lot of money. His family is desperate to raise the funds to save him. IMOM has already pledged $500 for emergency treatment/transfusion but the total estimate -- even with a discount -- is $1800. It is urgent that funds be raised tonight!

Poor boy! I PM'd Lady's Human, in case he knows any military forums that might want to contribute as well.

Please continue to get the word out. So far $175 in donations have come in. That leaves $865 to be raised this morning. No donation is too small.

Awww! Poor guy and his humans. Was it intentional? Hope they get all the funds they need.

Update on FuMan Chew from Feb. 1st.

I still have a hard time believing stories like this unless the money goes right to the vet. I feel bad for the dog because its an 8 year old unneutered chihuahua mix that was doing what, wondering around the neighborhood unsupervised? I'm sorry to be captain buzzkill about a terrible thing like this happening to an animal but if I donated to a cause like this it would be to put the dog in a better home. I have a hard time feeling sorry for the owners.

On top of the lack of money for the one dog, they have a lab/husky mix puppy! Another statistic in the coming years.

imom, I believe, verifies things and makes sure the money goes to the veterinary care.

I agree that there are alot of stories out there. It's hard to determine what's real and what's a scam these days.
But, if you bother to check out IMOM.org 's website, you will see that they are on the up-and-up. They even publish their financials.

No one is asking you to feel sorry for the owners. But, in order to help the pet, you have to deal with the people. Surely, you're not saying that an animal doesn't deserve medical treatment because you disagree with the choices the owners make?

Check out IMOM.org and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

So glad they got the money. and please don't judge them. Maybe they didn't have the money.

I'm not saying the dog deserves to be left without either treatment or a humane end to its pain. But is it fair treatment for the dog to be fixed up and given back to people who haven't been responsible owners and haven't the money to care for it? You know this dog is going to still have hundreds of dollars in vet bills for follow up care after the initial surgery. How are they going to do that? Home remedies? And what of the large breed puppy that needs to be spayed or neutered? How are they going to care for that one? I don't have the money to donate to anybody right now but ideally I think if the dog were fixed rather than put down it should find a home where it will get proper care. Its just going to prolong its suffering giving it back to a family who can't afford follow-up care or future care.

Fu Man is one happy doggy to be home. The love of his family and his familiar surrounds are helping him recover. His first night home went smoothly, although our other pup didnt quite understand why Fu couldn't play. Dazie kept barking at his kennel for him to come out. I think Fu really wanted to play too but per doc orders-no exercise, no jumping, no excitement. This was easy the first night because he was still on pain meds so he just wanted to rest. Throughout the first day home he did pretty good he ate a lot too. He did have a few moment when he got excited cuz the doorbell rang and all his barking wore him out so we put a sign out front. So now if they don't know us they shouldn't be knocking!
2 nd day much better! He is trying to jump up on furniture and the bed, but he s not allowed! He gives me a loook and a "huff"when I tell him no. He is still eating well! His chest is super black and blue where he was shot. Bruise isn't changing colors yet. He looks a bit tired this afternoon so I am going to take a nap with him.
I think he is loving all the extra special attention he's been getting. He has even went on a few car rides since I won't leave him alone. My friends said Fu is so loved that he should have a facebookpage, I laughed and said he will def. have more friends than me! So I've been actually thinking of making him a page and if it's okay with imom to put a link on there so that others can see your site and donate to others in need. His story should be heard! And Thanks to imom & imom angels- I don't think Fu Man would be home with us yet if it wasn't for your help and support, Thank you all!
