The pic of Taz w/the collar cracked me up! His facial expression says it all. I'm glad that he's doing well, though. Think you can relax a bit now?

I am so happy to see "Mr Grumpy" Taz is home and healing!
There's the handsome baby!! So glad he's home and getting back to normal :) Surgery isn't fun is it, Taz? But I bet getting all the extra love and attention toward you instead of your other sibilings is nice :D
Actually Paizly hasn't seen him with it on. She hasn't really seen him at all. He is confined to the bedroom and when he was out today Paizly was snoozing in the "doghouse" (a spare room off the studio).
At night Paizly goes in her bedroom, Taggart goes in the kennel (which is in our bedroom/Taz's room) and Taz and Zoee get to share the big bed with us. Which is the original way it was, so that's good. :) Eventually Taggart will get to sleep out of the kennel, but not until he's 110% potty trained.
Zoee has seen Taz with the collar on and was very curious. That is until Taz swatted at her. LOL
And yes, Mary, I am much more relaxed now. :D I will be completely relaxed once he gets the staples out. I'm paranoid of the incision getting infected like Paizly's spay incision did. I also hate him having to wear that collar. :( It breaks my heart to see him slink around and bump into things. But the soft collar is MUCH better than the hard plastic ones.
ETA: I am home alone (well without other human) and so I can't be in the bedroom with Taz to let him have the collar off and in the other part of the house with Taggart to avoid any potty accidents. So I let Taz out of the room with the collar on. Paizly hissed a hiss at him like I've never heard from her. She sorta honked at him. I am pretty sure it was because of the collar.
Taz, you look WONDERFUL! And blue really does suit you well:p
I am so glad you are getting better. Now your meowmie can breathe easily, knowing you are in great health:love:
Poor little guy. He sure doesn't look pleased with the collar.
Feel better soon Taz.
This might take awhile! lol Jimmy had his tummy shaved for an ultrasound months ago and it's still not all grown in yet. :0)
Taz looks really good and I'm so glad he is home. I've never seen a collar like that one. We still have those awkward plastic cones here at my vet. Are they expensive? It looks like it is made out of vinyl or something? It's such a better design than the cone because it must make eating so much easier.
The soft cones exist in Canada, Lara - I think you have to ask for them.
Or make one out of a GIANT fancy drink umbrella! ;)
Taz that Collar is just the MOST fashionable attire one could wear whilst recoving post op! It could be a horrid plastic white one, who knows maybe it'll catch on! :) Welcome Home Taz
Taz looks fabulous! And the eyes while he's wearing the collar say it all, don't they?!
Thanks everyone! :D He is doing so well. I'm only giving him the meds once a day. The last time I gave it to him most of it missed, but I didn't want to do another dose just in case. He'll be fine until tomorrow. Maybe I'll give him one before I go to work.
The collar is made out of a strong nylon material. Sorta like a gym bag or backpack would be made from. It is very nice for him. It lays down so he can still squeeze under the bed and it doesn't hinder eating or drinking. But it does stop him from getting to the incision. :D
I had to request the soft collar. They would have just given me the regular hard plastic one. He didn't fight me the first couple of days to put it on but now he sorta fights against it. But doesn't run away from me, which is good. I just feel bad that next week while I'm at work he'll have to stay in the collar ALL day. I will ask Bruce to give him time out of it if he can. But he works from home and wouldn't be able to watch him as closely (as I'd like him to) while it's off.
Shouldn't it be pretty well healed up here in a couple of days? It looks very good. I did notice a small area where it looked like blood seeped through, but it looks good today. I'm still paranoid of infection.
I'm glad to hear that he's doing so well.:) I've always left the e-collars on my furkids until they had their stitches out just to be on the safe side. Poor Storm had to wear the ugly plastic kind because back then I didn't even know about the soft kind. Good luck.:)
welcome home, Taz, honey-bunny!
Yes, I will be leaving the collar on until we get the staples out. Which will be next Monday. So seven more days of the icky collar. :(
I think he's getting used to it. Although, last night he fought me hard to not get it put back on. I look at that as a good thing. It means he's feeling better. :D
So Taz is pretty much all better and well on his road to recovery. Now we can all focus on Barney, Andy and Ms Pidgelet. :)
Thank you so much for all the support! I have no idea how I managed without Pet Talk before.
Taz still doing well? Did you ever hear anything about testing of the cysts that were removed? Still thinking of you guys!
