Y'know, I wondered about that myself. He always has done that before. He must've had his reasons and I'm going to ask him about that as well on Wed. He's always asked me which I prefer, so maybe he felt this was necessary. (Not that I know what I'm talking about.)
I just gave her a subQ treatment and she fussed a lot but we got it in her. Then I gave her the pain meds and she settled right down, so I might have a good night. I've got an early appt. tomorrow, so I hope so.
Blessings,
Mary
Sorry I haven't replied at all this weekend. I feel really bad now. ;)
Puddy is probably confused and scared about everything that is going on. She is porbably thinking "What is Mommy doing? I don't wanna take my madicine!!!" She knows you are doing your best.
Good luck at the vet tomorrow!
Come on!! Let there be good news! :)
I am just now seeing this entire thread for the first time! :(
I am so sorry that your Puddy has had so much to go through! Poor girl! I hope you will get some better news on her soon!
Hugs,
Kim
She goes in to see Dr. Lee this morning ti have her sutures removed. She did really well yesterday, fussed a lot during her subQ treatment but she's been doing that since her surgery. And she threw up foam last night, which isn't good. So I'm anxious to hear what he has to say. I'll keep everyone posted.
Blessings,
Mary
Puddy and you will be in our thoughts today.
She was really good, although on the way to the vet's, she kept pawing at the gear shift through the carrier as if to say "Turn this car around. I'm not going!"; she even curled up and slept on the way home. And I didn't hear any screaming when the sutures were removed, which, btw, Dr. Lee said he didn't use the dissolvable kind because her incision was so large.
He's still amazed at her. He said "Every time I see Puddy I marvel at how strong she is. She looks great!" He said that one of her meds could be causing the tic so to stop giving it to her. It had an antidepressant in it to keep her calm and he said sometimes it can cause neurological symptoms. Of course, she didn't tic one time while she was in there. But she did on the way home. And we're back to doing the subQ's every other day instead of every day now. I don't have to take her back in unless she's having problems but he thinks she's doing remarkably well. He did start her on some potassium, though.
While I was in the waiting room, though, a young girl and a woman who appeared to be her mother came in w/a cat in a carrier and I have NEVER heard a cat make that kind of sound! It was though he had croup but it wasn't that at all. He was in pain and the girl was crying and Dr. Lee came out and tried to comfort her and take care of the cat at the same time. I was going to go to her but they rushed her into a room. I overheard Dr. Lee say to her "He's not doing well, huh? Well, hold on." I didn't want to eavesdrop but I heard the word "cystitis" and "kidneys". I sure hope it's just cystitis. Puddy just got over that and while it can be serious, if anyone can make that kitty better, Dr. Lee can. I felt so bad for that poor kitty, I wanted to cry, too. And Puddy was as quiet as a church mouse. I think I'm going to call there later and see if they'll give me an update on the kitty.
Well, that's the report, friends. I haven't given Puddy any meds today because I didn't want to stress her out for her vet visit. So I'm going to have some lunch, then wrap myself like I'm walking through plutonium to give her the meds. ;)
Blessings,
Mary
Good for Puddy!
But that poor other cat...I hope they were able to give it a catheter and at least give it some instant relief...
I wonder what they feed the poor thing? I hope there is an update...
I just spoke to one of the vet techs and she said that unfortunately she wasn't allowed to tell me what's wrong w/the cat but he was having breathing problems and he's on fluids and is being hospitalized. She did say, however, that he was stabilized. She thanked me for calling and apologized that she wasn't able to tell me more and she said that she honestly didn't know all the details. I'm still going to call again in a couple of days for another update. I just can't get that sound out of my mind. It was unearthly.
Blessings,
Mary
Just checking in to see how you and Puddy are doing. Sounds like things are progressing well. I do hope that her fears are just from having so much happen to her lately and that they will go away with time. Hugs to you both. I was in tears reading about the cat that was at the vets when you were there. Were you able to get an update?
That's great that Puddy was doing great! :) I'm so glad. Puddy sure is a fighter. She is going to be strong and nothing is going to stop her!
Oh my gosh! I felt so bad when you told us about that other cat. I hope he was all right. I could picture the sound in my head. My heart just sank. Hopefully he will be alright!
Good luck, Puddy!!! :)
To be honest, it sounded like the cat was on his way out. It was a deep, throaty LOUD sound, almost like a croupy wail. I can't describe it; it didn't even sound like a cat. I had to peek into the carrier to make sure that's what it was. Poor little thing. My altar is going to look like a bonfire soon, with all the candles burning. I'll call again on Friday cuz they told me to let them know how Puddy is doing and I'll ask about that cat then. Sure hope he's comfortable and that he makes it.
Blessings,
Mary
I was thinking about that tic ever since you mentioned it, and when you said he was taking her off the med with the antidepressant in it, it reminded me of my one friend's daughter (not a cat, but still)...Quote:

Amazing how it can affect humans and animals in the same way.
You're right, Jenn. And Dr. Lee said "It's a rather new drug and I'm old fashioned. I like to stick w/the tried and true. But we gave her the other stuff before, so I thought since she had such a rough time, I'd give this a try. I know that some of these drugs affect humans that way so take her off it." So we shall see. Because she didn't do it while she was in his office, (of course), he said that he hopes it isn't a form of "pre" epilepsy. I hope not, too, although my dog had it and she was on amitryptilene nearly all her life w/no side effects and she lived to be 18 1/2. But I still don't want Puddy to have to go through that, esp. w/all her other problems.
Blessings,
Mary
I checked this out about Amitriptyline, otherwise known as Elavil, and the
side effects are many.... you might want to check out this link:
