I heard on the news that they are closing beaches in Massachusetts and New York because of the hurricane effect on the ocean waves.
It's a damp, chilly evening in Chicago - could I have coffee, please?
It is more the danger below the surface than the waves that closes beaches - a strong rip tide can get a swimmer in trouble very quickly, and you don't necessarily see it coming. I'd love to be on Nantucket to watch the waves, but now isn't the time to head there!
Barkeep, I'm exhausted, but it's a "good exhausted". I think I deserve another Hurricane, and some Hurricane Cake!
1 9x13 cake
Ingredients
1 box chocolate cake mix
8 ounces cream cheese
1 lb powdered sugar
1/2-1 cup butter
2 cups coconut
1 1/2 cups pecans
1 can chocolate frosting (melt in microwave)
Directions
1Sprinkle coconut and pecans over dry bottom of 9x13 pan.
2Mix cake mix (according to package directions) and pour over coconut and pecans.
3Mix creme cheese, sugar, and butter.
4Drop by big blobs on cake batter.
5Swirl blobs into cake gently with a knife.
6Bake 350 for 35-45 minutes.

I'm very tired tonight also. Someone kept my up late last night. ;):p
One warmed up Grand Marnier for me please. I'm going to bed early.

OK-time for bed (us working people, dontcha know) - but a nice spot o'tawny port & a little hurricane cake - I'll be fine! G'night y'all! ;)
How come that's called Hurricane Cake? Any idea? Doesn't seem like something you could make if the power was out, or featuring much in "tropical" ingredients ...
Good question-all??
Now, really, g'night!
"I just have had a funk for the last few days. Life interrupted."
Well, then, barkeep - let me get YOU a hurry-cane! Anything serious?
