Prayers and good thoughts on the way! *hugs*
Prayers and good thoughts on the way! *hugs*
Sammy and Mom will be in my thoughts for days to come, knowing this oh so important event is going to take place. I trust since this procedure is done so often these days, that all will run smoothly. It is wonderful that Jessica is a match for Sammy.
Prayers and positive vibes being sent their way!
Keep us posted. :love::love::love::love:
I do not have the ability to put into beautiful words the prayer that our Phred would muster - but I can pray with all of my heart for a perfect and healthy outcome for everyone.
What an example for us all - Jessica with her limitless love and care and Samantha with a spirit that will never be broken. We are fortunate to share their lives through you Johanna.
Please give them my love.
I just spent the day off and on reading through this entire thread. Since I was not yet a member back in 05 when this originally started. I was sad that I didn't get to see most of the pictures, only the last two posted. But thanks to Phred (of course!! :D) I was able to read the progress (and setbacks:() of Samantha and her family.
It really is amazing to me that Jessica is a match. She was definitely placed in the right family, that's for sure!
I will keep Jessica and Samantha in my thoughts for the big day Tuesday. :)
That is so amazing that Jessica is a donor match for Sam. Wow... That is a huge fear as an adoptive parent. The "what ifs" in that kind of medical situation. Prayers for all of them...
Very very best wishes for a successful procedure tomorrow.
They will be in my thoughts all day.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but family doesn't have a greater probability of being a donor match than someone from the general public. I guess that family is tested first because donating one or part of your organs is a life changing commitment.
My prayers are with them.
A prayer has been said. Keeping them in my thoughts today.
If anyone follows the post on the Care Pages...I just wanted to let you know the surgery was delayed, and did not start at 745 am. As of 9 am, it hadn't yet begun. But, since my mom hasn't called with an update yet, I am presuming the surgery is underway by now.
Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.
Keeping little Sam and your mom in prayer today...
many prayers sent...:love::love:
Many prayers and good thoughts for Sam and Jessica today.
Sam and Jessica are in my thoughts and I'm sending lots of positive vibes for a succesful operation.
I used to beable to log into her care page and I would get email updates. Since it's been so long from last use it's not coming up. Can someone post the link again. Thanks :)
It truly is a miracle that mom and Sam were a match. Amazing. Lots of prayers to the family for quick, successful, uneventful surgeries, and quick recoveries for both mom and Sam.
I am keeping Jessica and Samantha in my thoughts today. Will check back often for updates.
Here is Samantha's Care Page...

hmmm... 1:40 PM in Chicago, one hour later in Ohio... wonder how things are going, prayers said and fingers crossed
I seem not to be able to log in- but I send my best wishes and we keep all fingers (and paws) crossed.
BIG delays. I talked to my BIL at 430 Ohio time. Jessica was out of surgery and in recovery, about to be taken to a room for the night. She is doing fine and the surgery went well.
Sam was just going to be coming out of surgery, and taken to recovery, where she will stay for several hours, before going to the ICU. She will be in the ICU for 10-14 days. The surgery went well. I didn't know that both of Sam's kidneys stay in her, and my sister's is added to the mix.
Jessica had high hopes of spending the night in the ICU, but with the surgery so delayed, will prolly be in her room re-couperating. Though, knowing my sister...she might be sneaking some place, somehow.
My BIL was going to stay with Sam until late tonight. That is a bit worrisome, as he has been up at 3, and with the stresses of the day, driving home 50 minutes, at dark, in the rain...could be difficult. I hope he stays the night.
I will update as I know more. Thanks for keeping them in your thoughts and prayers!
Just the update I was looking for. :) So glad things went well. Now they just both need to recover.
I do hope your BIL stays the night there. Jessica and Samantha really need him to remain healthy and well.
That is interesting about adding the kidney in with the others. I guess if the others aren't infected or causing issues, why not? Not like an alcoholics kidney would be.
I will still keep them in my thoughts until both are home again. :)
Hmmm..."I must not have taken good notes when I spoke to the doctor about my surgery"...straight from my sister's mouth this am, when I phoned for an update. She is still in her own room, hooked up to wires/tubes, etc. She was wheeled up last night to see Sam. Sis is doing okay, just kind of surprised about her recovery process.
She said Sam looked good, Sam's numbers are good, the kidney is already working, and according to the kidney doc, "...likes its new home". All good news.
Thanks for keeping them in your thoughts.
Yeah! Prayers their recoveries continue to go well.
Great to hear both Samantha and your sister are doing well.:)
It's good to hear that Sam & Mom, Jessica are both doing well. Prayers
for a smooth & complete recovery for both of them.
Couldn't have asked for better news. Prayers for a continued smooth road ahead.
I'm so glad to hear that both Sam and Jessica are doing well and the operation went well. Sam has been so brave all along!
Will keep them both in my throughts and hope they recover soon. They ought to be spoiled rotten when they get home - I'm sure you can arrange that. ;)
Great news!
Prayers that all continues to go well.
I'm so glad to hear that things are going so well:)
I'll still be keeping them in my prayers.
I am constantly checking in here to this thread and Phreds. And so far they both seem to be having good news. This is great! :)
I'm glad to hear that everything went well.:) I'll continue to keep them both in my thoughts and prayers.
Keeping you all in my prayers and wishing everything is going well!
Glad to hear recovery is going well!
Awesome news! A "new home" is very exciting!!! Praying for everyone's quick recovery and healthy future!
I read on Samantha's Care Page that she was on the right track to be moved out of intensive care yesterday (meaning Friday, Dec. 3). I hope that was the case! And that mom Jessica is also doing well.
Finally got into the Care Page. Great to hear Jessica is doing so well. I gather from a few comments that she is feisty ? ;) I hope she will rest up and heal...that means Not Moving Around A Lot, Jessica! :D
Dear Sammy...her first few years have shown how incredible she is. I hope things continue well and pray she has a long, healthy and happy life!:)
