A marten bite! That must have HURT. I am glad the wound opened and is draining now...the healing will go faster!
Did the vet say anything to your mom about Peggy being INDOORS from now on? ;)

What the heck is a marten? Is that a type of spider or something? Will have to look this up now...
Poor Peggy. I hope it starts to heal up quickly. I know Calloway's abscess on his tail took a while to heal. I had to put warm compresses on it, and use betadine.
A marten is a rodent type of creature! TEETH! UGH!

OMG... that is just a nasty looking creature!!! Never seen one here in PA, that's for sure! But maybe we call them something else? They're really unpleasant looking. She's probably lucky she didn't get hurt worse. I hope Peggy gets to stay inside from now on!
Martens, or Marder as they are called here, sure look like rodents, but actually they are little carnivores. They are not very popular here as they cause damage in cars by chewing the cords.

Looks like Peggy really got involved in a fight with one, as today, the abscess opened on the opposite site of her pad as well, and it looked very nasty, full of pus and liquid. I will post some photos of her later. She looked very miserable earlier today (and hissed at me when she got her pill), but my mother just called to tell me that Peggy has started walking around on three legs, and she even wanted to go out (which of course she wasn't allowed to).
I'll post some new pics of her later!

Holy cow... those marten suckers have some mighty pointy teeth! They look like a ferret in a way. I really really hope your mom keeps Peggy inside from now on!
Poor little girl; that must have hurt her bigtime. Sweet Peggy, please try to stay in or close to home. Those critters look dangerous.
Poor sweet Peggy. I'm hoping that the abcess draining on its own is a good thing and Peggy isn't in as much pain. Please give her some feel better scritchies and lovies from me? My prayers continue for Peggy's complete and speedy recovery with no complications.
Well, at least she's not allowed to go outside for the time being, but I wish I could convince my mother that Peggy is better off as a permanent indoor girl.
She's doing a bit better today. Her paw is less swollen and looks less infected, but it's still looking bad enough to give you a scare.
This was her yesterday when she was still feeling miserable and very ill. You can even see her third eyelid:

This was her paw today. The yellow color comes from the disinfectant:

Here, she just got up, and my mother comforted her:

In her favourite place on the window sill. She's showing more interest in the outside world now:

Two hours ago, my mother called to tell me that Peggy is demanding to go out. I heard her complaining on the phone. LOL She's definitely feeling better, and even tried to walk on four legs to convince my mom that she's well enough to go out - but it did not help her. ;)

Yow!!!
Those Look Liksome Seriously Mean Little Critters With Fangs, And We Have The Feeling That They Can Cause Most House Cats Some Serious Damages!!
Lets Pray That Peggy Has Learned Her Lesson And Gives Them Wide Bearth, Or Best Of All Stays Indoors From Now On.
I think your mom's vet should tell her about being indoor...and it would help Peggy if Dino was indoors also! :) Glad she is feeling well enough to try and 'fool' her mom! :D
Well, Dino is going nuts when he's indoors, espcially after Peggy moved in. He refused to enter the house, and when you take him inside, he's acting totally agressive. But I think there would be a chance to get Peggy accustomed to the life of an indoor cat. But my mother never listens to me! *sigh* She and Reinhold even tell me it's animal abuse to keep Luna and Lily inside!Quote:

I wish your mother would keep her inside though - I bet Peggy wants to go and get revenge. Not a good idea!
She has the most amazing markings, what a pretty girl. :)
Poor Peggy !! :( But her pictures are beautiful as always. May her paw heal mighty quick !!!!
